It had to happen and just only one day after the successful opening weekend for The Da Vinci Code there's already talk about it:

Sony Eyeing Da Vinci Code Follow-Up
Source: Times Online May 22, 2006

With Sony Pictures' The Da Vinci Code earning a massive $224 million worldwide its first weekend, Times Online is reporting that the studio is already looking towards a possible follow-up.

According to Jeff Blake, vice chairman of Sony Pictures, the studio is hoping to bring another novel by Dan Brown, Angels and Demons, to the big screen:

Tom Hanks could return to star as the Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon, who appeared in the book and will be the hero of Brown's next novel. Mr Blake said: "We are very interested in filming Angels and Demons. We hope that the relationship with Dan Brown will be a long one. That could be the next project."

Angels and Demons was the reclusive author's third novel after he gave up his job as an English teacher. It tells the story of Langdon's brush with a shadowy secret society, the Illuminati, and his frantic quest for the world's most powerful energy source, in the company of a beautiful Italian physicist whose father, a brilliant physicist, has been murdered.

"The Da Vinci Code" was Brown's fourth book

To me angels and demons was more entertaining than the da vince code, so if they end up making a movie i'll see it

I've read both books, and seen The DaVinci Code, and loved it. I'd definitely see Angels & Demons as well.

I'd see it. Although, I have a feeling people who haven't read the book may just see it as a rip off of the Da Vinci Code, as it follows the same storyline.

I bet my life saving, my house mortage, my car, my guitars and my organs that if the movie is released, more than seven million people will say that it was a da vinci code rip-off

Well, yeah... that's what you get when all your lead female characters are the ones who have a murdered relative (or a supposed relative) all the time and other similar things.

Angels and Demons would work great, when I was reading it I actually thought it could work great as a season of 24.

Christianity would probably fall once all of dan browns books turn into movies, haha:rolleyes:

From what I saw in DVC, I don't expect this movie adaptation to be better.

Yet you'll still see it.

What you don't understand is that there's more going on in Angels and Demons. You have literally an insane killer going around killing cardinals in the vatican, while using symbols and the elements of life as his calling card.

So Angels and Demons would more or less be a bit more graphic, intelligent, and a bit scarier than the Da Vinci Code.

Angels and Demons was a good read, it would have been brilliant if
there actually was Illuminati involved instead of a crazed priest, but I guess that just goes along with Brown's anti-Catholic sentiment.

In a sense you could view the killer as an Illuminatic follower. It's just the priest was using him as a pawn.

I guess they could go a different route with it. Upon reading the book it surprised me and was very unexpected, especially how well he was written and how you'd never expect him to do that either.

i wonder how quickly they'll roll this one into production. probably can't be too long... as they'll want hanks to look about the same age.

No, in this book, the Christians are the heroes, with a cardinal ultimately proving a big heroic figure.

Dan Brown isn't anti-catholic! He's a Christian himself, so it would be a tad hypocritical.

Yeah, cause he's really aging rapidly, damn that puberty!

Finally, I can't wait to see this film, DVC wasn't as good as Angels and Demons IMO.

The writers of 24 actually wanted The Da Vinci Code as the third season of it.

Maybe because Dan Brown is an unoriginal hack?

Wait, did the writers want to actually do Da Vinci Code or something similar for season 3?

Angels & Demons will be awesome! The only problem I forsee is that since there isn't much controversy behind it like DVC, it'll probably be not as successful, even with all the negative critic reviews.

I think Jack Bauer trying to find the Holy Grail would be a little rediculous.
