Horror Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire | AMC

This has been getting great reviews so far.

I kept reading those video titles as "Anne Rice's Interview" which was very confusing given she passed away.

It’ll finally be here tomorrow. Can’t freaking wait!!!

Counting down the days. :D

I’m glad they are leaning into the queer elements with this. I hope they go all out with it.

FYI, both episodes 1 and 2 are already available on AMC+ and I'm very impressed! And yes, they have gone all-out with the queer elements.

The early renewal seems like a no-brainer given the critical reception:
Interview With the Vampire
Tomatometer: 97%

Watching the opener now, trying to process the updates. Most I can manage just fine. I was however quite pleased by:

the mention of the Mayfair witches house. I'd love to see them folded into this more completely than in the books. Hoping it wasn't just an Easter egg for those paying attention.

They already have a Mayfair Witches series in pre-production. AMC brought the rights to all of Rice's rights and are developing it all in a connected universe, hence the "Immortals Universe" tag at the start.

Musta missed the tag. Thrilled just the same. :D

This show caught me totally by surprise. I remember reading something about it being in development a year or two ago, but had no idea it was coming out now. We were desperately looking for something to watch last night and saw it pop up out of the blue last under the AMC channel on Prime. I've been catching up on the press all day.

I only read the first couple novels way back in high school, but always enjoyed the universe and had school friends who adored them, so this could be coming from a place of ignorance. While there are obvious liberties taken and updates made, this feels like a very true and respectful adaptation, in terms of characters and themes. It feels like it "gets it" unlike something like Rings of Power.

That first episode officially has me seduced.

It's like they captured the core of 'Interview' the book and took elements of the movie and dialed it up to a beautiful eleven. Even some remnants of my favorite Anne Rice book, "Feast of All Saints" is in there too.

But DAMN this was so good. I cannot wait to see what happens next week and how they handle Claudia.

So well done.

Beautiful.Tragic.Horrifying

Yeah I’m in love with this series and that first episode was everything I hoped it would be. I knew I had a good feeling about this series and glad I was right. Just an fantastic first episode that draws you in and Seduces you. I’m loving Sam Reid as Lestat and Jacob Anderson is amazing as Louie. I mean that confession scene at the end was damn good acting and that ending oh my.

Jacob Anderson as Lou is killing it so far and Sam Reid is great too as Lestat. I've never read the books, but I do love the Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt movie which I grew up on and they have pretty much nailed the tone and atmosphere of that movie while also improving on it by delving even deeper into the mythology.

This is the kind of Gothic horror I eat up and if you want vampire carnage, you'll definitely get that as well. I also wasn't expecting the family stuff with Lou to hit as hard as it did, but that second episode got me.

This is off to a great start so far and I can't wait to see more.

So I just said what the hell and got AMC+ on the strength of wanting to see episode 2, and my word it was even better.

Louis killing that passive aggressive businessman and then getting Lestat together about how ‘fledgling’ was sounding like ‘slave’ was everything.

And then I got nervous as hell when Louis looked at his infant nephew like he was a Big Mac LOL.

But man this show is the perfect storm of Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. I just want more.

Yeah, episode 2 was great. The only downside to binging them this way is that we have to wait two weeks now for episode 3!

Lestat comparing...
different prey to wines was too funny to me!

Looks at buff, square jawed Navy sailors.. "Thick skinned, chewy Cabernet..."
:lmao:

Hilarious! I also thought it was cute when

Lestat told Louis he didn't like going to their coffins mad LOL

But yes, it's going to be an awful wait for episode 3 now.

Watched the first episode; fantastic. Loving both Louis and LeStat; both actors are just killing it.

Also, that scene with LeStat and the priest and the end. HOLY ****.

Also, I haven’t read the books… vampires can stop time? Or is it a telekinesis thing that just affects things around him?

The time stopping thing wasn't in the books so I don't know how to explain that. Vampires can move very quickly so I get that illusion in action scenes, but the card game? That was all new to me.

Yeah the church scene could just be construed as LeStat moving at superspeed but the card game was something else.

I just think it's part of the glamour/hypnosis. A seduction tactic if you will.
