Another blow for sony.

Oh, not another blow for Sony....

Pffft.

The share prices are falling largely because of the mess with the battery recalls that pretty much every laptop producer seems to be instigating lately. That, plus the European launch delay.

It can't be a blow if there is nothing left to hit :o

I kid :D

Or do I o.O

well its no surprise they were overheating. They were cramped up in small display cases with limited ventilation and tons of people hovering around them. The PS3s were not in optimal conditions and the conditions that they were in would lead to an increased chance of overheating. Most people who will buy and play their PS3 wont be keeping them in small display cases cramped up, so this shouldnt be much of an issue. Notice it was one journalist who even said anything about the overheating, but I havent read anything from any game sites, such as Gamespot, IGN etc... He seemed uninformed to me

No. The 3% fall was a direct reaction to the news from TGS. The fall from the Laptop battery problems happened weeks before.

Most people WILL be sticking it a small cramped enclosed entertainment unit. Just look at what happened with the X360 overheating.

Try actually reading the gaming sites then :o All have covered the overheating issues at TGS... Hell it was on the freaking Australian News.

Oh Jesus that funny

SCE can categorically deny that there's any problems with PS3 units overheating. As could be seen on the TGS floor by the tens of thousands of media and public attendees, both the hardware and software worked flawlessly.

The laptop recalls are still occuring. It wasn't one incident. It's a continuous process. More and more laptop manufacturers and recalling as time goes by, and in turn, Sony's profit is going down. I believe it's pretty much been halved over the recalls. It's a continous profit which continually is affecting shares.

So no, we can't claim the 3% drop was a direction reaction to TGS. Share prices can't be singled out it that manner. The market is all about speculation.

Oh, and I don't understand the glee from posters. Ho ho ho, Sony may be going under. That's bad for the industry in general, not good.

The same can be said how the Sony Fan Boys hate on everything Microsoft does. If your going to question one group then question all. Because in the end its each group hating on the same type of thing but different company

Besides, fanboys wars are good for forum health. It keeps the place active. :D:up:

Theres a big difference between 'glee' and what we're showing. Am I happy that sony is basically killing themselves in the gaming divison? No. Do I think it's funny after all the bragged and boasted about how awesome the ps3 is going to be? Yes.

well I think its stupid both ways. I have noticed the trend has been to hate on Sony for every little thing this year. There's no disputing that. Obviously I mentioned Sony since this IS a Sony thread and its what's being discussed here. Microsoft wasnt brought up till you mentioned it right now. I dont have anything to say about the system positive or negative as it would be ignorant of me since I dont own an X-360 nor play with one

The hilarity increases when you realize, within that closed space (because as you can see the opening is normally closed) the fan will end up blowing its own heat onto the PS3.

Units overheated for Microsoft as well, amazing, I know.

Unlike a callback process the initial stock market reaction is mostly limited to the official announcement from the company. The announcement of which came out almost a month ago and so did the percentage drop of both SONY and APPLE stock.

A stock reaction to news like that rarerly continues during the process. Stock reaction firms up after a few days when the buyers see how the company is dealing with the process... Something which SONY have been very good dealing with.

The 3% drop was a reaction to the news from TGS. The indusrty leaders have said thia and so have they buyers. SONY seem to be the only ones denying it... Them and some SONY fans.

AVALANCE, dont be so silly. Its a direct reaction. Saying that Stocks are immune to direct reaction and saying that the market is all about speculation shows you know nothing about the stock market.

Well to be fair, that's only because Sony ****s up in so many different ways these days.

Bleh, Sony were always cheap ****s. I had I think, 2 playstationx's.

They would always break down, freeze, and not even play the discs. The things never even could read 1st party software for some reason. Only 3rd party, which always ****ed up just as much as my playstation1's. Half the time the controllers would break, or the memory cards would get corrupted. And now, I'm on my second playstation 2.

It was never my point that the TGS news affecting share prices. My point was the 3% drop cannot be solely attributed to TGS. Shares can rise and drop a couple of percentage points for no reason other than the prevailing market experience.

AVALANCE, dont be so silly. Its a direct reaction. Saying that Stocks are immune to direct reaction and saying that the market is all about speculation shows you know nothing about the stock market.
Again, I never claimed the stock market is immune to direct reaction Speculation can often be directly tied to direct reactions. My point was Sony has other issues that have to be factored in.

Not good for Sony. I smell some recalls coming in '08. Oh well.

Sony might be screwed (at least Domestically) because of two 'incidentally beneficial' factors.

1) The American Economy isn't strong, so a lot of people may wait to purchase the PS3, or decline to buy one.

2) The Wii has the same release date and it's less than half of the PS3's price.

My reason. X360 was first, and I rarely play that now. Why should I buy a Sony, when the only two games that I care about[MGS and GTA] will receive a multi-platform release, beginning with their next respective installments?

Sorry Sony fans, but those flagship games gave them a serious advantage, and I would've bought one for those two games alone, but since they'll appear in 360 format, could someone elaborate on why I should purchase a PS3?

Are they even working on an online way to play?

[I'm not trying to instigate, so attempt a civil rebuttle; I know that's a lot to ask of a testosterone filled-message board, but try, try, try. . . ]
