Should there be another international, or outside of Gotham, scene in the next film?

If its part of the story I don't really care where. Another DC comics location getting a cameo would be neat though.

I agree.

The Hong Kong scene in TDK was so cool and badass!!!! The next film should have a scene like that! Batman goes INTERNATIONAL everybody!!!!!!

yea maybe bruce could go on a business trip to Metropolis. or maybe there could be another vigilante who goes by the name of nightwing in Bludhavan and Batman goes to investigate?

I thought Nolan wants to stay out of the "super"hero comic characters (Superman), and focus only on Batman in a heightened realism environment.

yea they doesn't have to be any indication of superman, maybe a article in the daily planet that bruce reads on the plane back or summin.

Yeah, but if there's a Daily Planet, there is a Superman.

I thought Nolan's Batman films were to represent Batman in OUR world, not some DC Universe where there are super-freaks in every major city.

If it is part of the story let Bruce travel to where ever the hell he has to go, real world cities only though, it gives more depth. However I wouldn't want to see him go to other places just for the sake of it a la James Bond.

yes Nolans films are hyper realistic, but its still fantasy, its still a DC universe otherwise Batman wouldn't be in Gotham he'd just be in Chicago or New York. People are looking to far into this realism thing, people still think Joker wears make-up just because its realistic. nonsense. Joker wears make-up because its part of this interpritations character. I don't see a problem with Bruce/Batman visiting other DC cities and it still being "realistic".

I totally agree. There should only be real world cities, or else we'll start seeing blue tights, red cape, green ring, magic lasso, etc.

So how would Superman be interpreted in Nolan's heightened realism? Would he still be an alien with superpowers? Probably not. Not even Smallville close.

Essentially, Gotham is a replacement for New York or Chicago, this isn't the DC universe, this is Nolan's universe and like it or not, it's Batman and Batman only, Metropolis, Central City, Themyscira, they don't exist in this series.

THANK YOU!!!!!!

I'm glad that there are people that understand Nolan's Batman films!

look i understand Nolans Batman films and i'm not saying i WANT him to go to metropolis i'm just saying it would still be possible. if you love Nolan so much and have that amount of faith in him you should understand that if he feels the need for it, he could make it work in a "realistic" way. no doubt

If Superman is brought in, reality is thrown out the window.

who said anything about Superman? there can still be a metropolis without Superman. if i remember rightly the first couple of stories in the Hush series Bruce was in Metropolis and there was no sign of Superman.

Nolan likes to stick with heightened realism. Metropolis = Sueprman. You don't need to see Superman. The name "Metropolis" or "Daily Planet" automatically signals Superman.

Besides, just because this is a DC comics film, doesn't mean other DC comic cities have to be mentioned. Look at Burton's B89 and BR. Did he mention any other DC Universe city?

look, i'm not bothered to be honest. i'm not going to say they have to do such a thing, but if it happens i'm not going to start moaning "oh well it not very realistic if Metropolis is in it!". i just think a lot of people use this "realism" crap to come up with excuses. as i said before people still use the "realism" excuse for Joker wearing make-up, when its clear someone like Nolan wouldn't be creativly bound by these stupid little things.
to me Nolans Bat-films are fantasy films grounded in a realistic world, they are NOT just a realistic film, its a realistic Batman film. there is a difference.

I might be alone but I wouldn't mind Nolan going further with his insertion of Gotham in real world.....I mean it could be nice to hear about Washington and the places of power there, how about some FBI investigation too ?:cwink::cwink:

Look out, everyone!!! Reality will be thrown out the window! Did ya hear that? Reality will be thrown out the window!

Next thing you know Batman will have to face a guy that comes back from the dead! Or a guy who can change his shape! Or a man that is a were-bat!

That's not Batman!

:doom: :doom: :doom:

With Batman being a fugitive of the Gotham Police, and his character logically being the focal point now...I think they can get away with staying in Gotham City this time around.

Exactly why there shouldn't be a trip to Metropolis.

As we stated in another thread, Nolan keeps "Easter Eggs" and "nods" out of his films because he's all business- all about making a serious, down-to-earth, dark movie. You see what happens with Marvel movies, right? None of them are in the same league as The Dark Knight... Partially because they're just about all light-hearted, family-friendly (and as such, toned-down) fun. Not saying they're not good movies, but because they choose not to go the direction Nolan goes (in many ways), they will never be as good as or serious as The Dark Knight.
