Comedy Another Scary Movie in the works | Wayans Bros return!!!!

This series desperately needs the involvement of the Wayans again in some capacity. I love Scary Movie 1 and 2. I don't dislike 3, but it's just sort of there, and I actually got a few laughs out of Scary Movie 4. But haven't seen any since then, and I just know that when the Wayans were involved, the films were more memorable.

The main issue is when they don’t have a very popular horror movie to spoof. Scream worked really well because everyone knew it. Then you sprinkle in other popular horror movie scenes from the day. 3 worked better than 2 and 4 cause of The Ring angle as well.

I don’t know what horror film today could be as iconic as Scream was in the late 90s to base an entire spoof plot over it.

If the Wayans, Regina Hall and Anna Farris aren't in it, then I don't want it.
Regina Hall and Brenda were the magic that made these movies. Also how she dies every other movie and always comes back for the next film is my favorite running gag

I could see them trying to take on the likes of Talk To Me, the X films, and maybe Barbarian? Yeah, Talk To Me was an indie film, but it did catch on with audiences. The X films seem to be relatively popular, and Barbarian was pretty good. Maybe M3gan?

I'm just thinking off the top of my head of horror films they could tackle, since they already did Saw, and A Haunted House already parodied Paranormal Activity.

They could base it on the fact that studios are trying to reboot/requel/re-imagine horror franchises.

Scream 4 touched on that with the horror movie quiz that Kirby took, especially when she rattles off the list of horror films that have been remade. I'd share the clip of said scene if Kirby didn't drop an F-bomb in it.

The Wayans already have their Haunted House films. Do they need Scary Movie anymore? :o

They should bring them back if they do another one! I'm in the camp of those who think Scary Movie 3 is the best one. I just get so many laughs from that one still to this day after multiple viewings. "The dogs are acting strange", George being a terrible rapper (my favorite part is when some kid in the school throws a bunch of pencils at the door as he exits), Leslie Nielsen as the president, Charlie Sheen being pretty great at being funny while delivering silly lines completely deadpan. I think the biggest laugh for me in any of these movies is when Charlie Sheen is driving up to find his wife pinned by the car. The guy who plays the M Night role casually drops a "Tom, I'm gonna need a ride home" and it just always makes me laugh so hard. The first one is pretty solid as well but 2 and 4 are more mixed bags for me where some jokes land but the overall story isn't as strong.

So I guess we're just going to pretend that whatever came after Scary Movie 3 wasn't godawful. :o
They were already pushing their luck when they found a way to combine The Ring and Signs into one movie and tried to do it again with War of the Worlds and The Village of all things.

I didn't mind Scary Movie 4, honestly! Part of that might be because I'm a Saw fan and enjoyed those portions, but I got a few more laughs from 4 than 3 from scenes like the locked car door and parts of The Village parodies. 3 and 4 are still nowhere near as good as 1 and 2, though. Maybe it's because my expectations were rock bottom that I ended up getting one or two laughs.

Still, one thing another Scary Movie definitely needs no matter what is to make sure that "I'm Your Boogie Man" by KC and the Sunshine Band plays in the trailer. Not sure how that caught on, but that song has been in at least one trailer for all of the Scary Movie trailers, so they need to keep that going.

I always expect to hear it in the actual movies because of those trailers and it never happens lol

1-3 were fantastic, my favourite probably being 2 on account of the additions of Chris Elliott, Tim Curry and David Cross. Also James Woods in his hilarious cameo.

4 was really bad and I never even bothered with 5 tbh.

I only enjoyed the first 2 movies myself. Struggled even trying to watch the others.

neat thing about the first film was if you popped the DVD into a PC with a DVD drive you could watch the movie where they would take tally of either drug use (pot leaf) or when somebody 'got some' as well as the ability to read the script of the movie and other cool stuff I miss when they did that on some DVD movies back in the day.

From the last ten years, there are a lot that they can do a parody of:

-The Conjuring/Valak
-Avengers assembling
-Barbie/Oppenheimer

The opening scene in Scary Movie 2, in which they parodied The Exorcist was hilarious.

Please let's just stick to horror movies

I mean I know parts of Barbie were terrifying, but still

Leave parodying everything under the sun to Friedberg and Seltzer. Actually, leave them to never make another awful parody movie ever again.

While Scary Movie 1 and 2 did occasionally reference things that weren't horror-themed, they were, more or less, focused movies. And whenever they did touch on something that wasn't horror, it was brief and the movie moved on, like the Nike parody.

I don't really care for that Nike spoof honestly, that's part of the comedy that does not work or hold up in these films IMO. Where they reference something that was hot for like a month and nobody remembers. The best kind of spoofing is the sort of stuff most people can relate to and also things that work well on their own regardless if you know what they are spoofing or not. I agree the Friedberg/Seltzer run of spoof movies that started with Date Movie is just among some of the worst comedies ever. I didn't even realize they made a Fast and Furious spoof in 2015 - their last film.
