Why does anyone at Paramount think people want this back?

We haven't had many good spoof films in awhile, and in a post Friedberg and Seltzer world filled with Date Movie to Vampires Suck, a palate cleanser would be nice.

Scary Movie 6 probably doesn't even have to be great, but at least good. Comparatively speaking, anyway. These films aren't Airplane or Young Frankenstein or anything similar. Plus, having the Wayans back is sure to get a lot of audience interest from people who remember those first two Scary Movies more fondly than everything that came after.

There's plenty horror ripe to parody, I feel. No doubt they'll take aim at some of Jordan Peele's work, but someone on Twitter suggested that this could take aim at the X/Pearl trilogy.

Either way, my hope is that this is more focused than Scary Movie 3 and onward. Scary Movie 1 and 2 took aim at a lot of things, but the first one is mostly a parody of Scream, while 2 is mostly a parody of The Haunting, with bits and pieces of other horror films and references sprinkled throughout. Where Scary Movie 3 and onward lost the plot (even though I like parts of both) is that the main focus wasn't spoofing horror, but everything under the sun.

There's a lot of stuff to make fun of from the last 10-15 years. I just hope they don't get too "random" with it and stick to one or two movies to follow the story.
I wouldn't mind having Ghostface again either, to be honest. The slasher trope worked really well.

A parody of Art the Clown showing up is basically a guarantee. Probably Pennywise too. The IT movies are now over half a decade old but the first one at least is probably the most popular horror movie of the last decade if box office is an indicator.

Absolutely 100 percent this- you'd not only get some goodwill from fans of both Scream and Barrera in particular, but could point out the absurdity of Barrera being fired from Scream in the first place.
