Good man.

Come on folks, there must be more Del Toro fans out there.

I love Mimic, it's what Alien Resurrection should have been. But a director's cut would blow the current version away, Mimic was really messed with by the studio.

I love Mimic, but I hate Flexo. If I sign it will seem like I love him. Plus, roach-monster-people burned down my village 25 years ago.

Sign it under an alias. That way, it'll seem like Log Dips loves Flexo.

And Jesus, man. Get over the past. A herd of zombie-shark aliens killed my parents, but you don't see me dressing up like a zombie-shark man, do you?

Ha ha.. "Doug Lipsowsky"

Mimic is one of the biggest missed opportunities in Hollywood history. It absolutely was close to being a masterpiece, in the same level as Alien and Aliens. If you read the original script, good grief, it's so dark, so symbollic, so scary.....the finished version is very good, but Del Toro's vision was magnificent, a dark, almost operatic piece of pure horror. It would have been amazing.

You may want to read this, the original draft of Mimic. (Before the studio screwed with it)

Thanks buddy, it's so much better, isn't it?

Especially this scene...

MANNY
Nino, please...

Manny slaps his knees with both hands in a parental gesture
of "come to me".

In the darkness, something that looks like a PALM FROND
floats gracefully down from the ceiling, making see-saw
gestures as it falls through the air.

Manny shines his flashlight on the floor. It's not a palm
frond.

It's a wing.

Manny turns his flashlight to the ceiling and walls.

The place IS COVERED WITH MIMICS. They are in the middle of
a vicious mating ritual. The males tear savagely at the
females wings as they proceed to mount them. A chaotic
cluster****.

Manny is sickened.

CHUY GIGGLES. Manny shines his light ahead. Manny's face
falls.

MANNY
Dios mio...

The WHITE PILLAR BEHIND CHUY IS MOVING...

...unfolding...

...at last revealing...

AN ALBINO MIMIC! Another leap for evolution...

Its form is different from the other Mimics. Sleeker, more
supple, almost beautiful. And while its movements are still
not completely human, there is a kind of unearthly grace to
them that at the very least entrance us.

The thing raises itself to full height, dwarfing the tiny
boy. It stands over him like a king over his court fool.

Chuy giggles happily. It's all a game to him.

The Albino CLICKS in response -- a long, leisurely sound, as
if trying to communicate with the boy.

Chuy pulls his spoons out and begins to play them, making a
perfect imitation of the sound.

Manny starts to tremble as the creature gazes upon him with
huge, expressionless 'eyes'. He turns to Chuy-

MANNY
(barely audible)
Chuy...

CHUY
(whispers)
Friends.

MANNY
NO, NO, CHUY, NO...

CHUY
Friends.

The Albino CLICKS his jaws, moving in toward Manny.

CHUY

plays his SPOONS in perfect imitation.

MANNY

stands under an archway in a swirl of dust. He raises his
arms, like a prophet. He lets go of hsi razor and kneels.

MANNY
God has closed his eyes. This, he cannot
see...

His vacant eyes, fill with tears, he prays quietly, a strange
serenity invades him.

The Albino's jaws open and charge.

I felt the same way after reading the script. I can't even enjoy the movie as much now, after learning what could have been.

100%

The ending is just perfect. Comparing the people of the world and their problems to the insignificance of bugs would have made such an astounding way to finish the film.

i saw mimics 2, so ****

Mimic 2+3 aren't bad movies, they just aren't good movies.

Exactly! It's a perfect, "Oh *****..." ending, a perfect Twilight Zone/60's sci-fi movie downbeat twist.

Mimic is beyond a simple monster movie because it genuinely has sinister and disturbing things to say about humanity, science and religion....it's almost The Matrix of horror movies. it's just incredible how good the film could have been. I'm getting excited just thinking about it! Del Toro has said he wants to show the deleted scenes someday, which is a start.

It's also, obviously, a Frankenstein-like film, but is much more hard hitting in it's message of, "Don't mess with nature," than any Frankenstein. Over time, Mimic has only grown more relevent, with scientists today messing with everything they can get their hands on, altering DNA, changing animals to their whim.

What is scariest about Mimic is that, when the bugs come for the humans, there is no mercy for humanity. It's a cold universe with no sympathy. The humans mess with powers they do not understand - and surely nature is pandora's box? - and end up creating the race which will destroy them.

And the original ending really hammered that home. The characters escape from the hell below - but the monsters have taken over above ground. And it's the main character's fault. How dark is that?

I think Del Toro's message is, no, humanity is not special, you are not placed here and protected by some superior force, and if another lifeform comes along and kills you, tough. That's nature.

Very well said!

All of the things you mentioned should be brought to DVD, and if this petition is successful, we'll finally be able to realize them and see a true Guillermo del Toro masterpiece in our own homes.

Thats about the cock roaches that can imitate humans.

A disease carried by common cockroaches is killing Manhattan children. In an effort to stop the epidemic an entomologist, Susan Tyler, creates a mutant breed of insect that secretes a fluid to kill the roaches. This mutant breed was engineered to die after one generation, but three years later Susan finds out that the species has survived and evolved into a large, gruesome monster that can mimic human form.

Summary from IMDb.

Dammit Flex, just do a Mimic fan-fic and get it over with. We can be two detectives in a crappy part of New York, and we keep finding dead Hypesters. Soon we must do battle with giant killer bug faces.
