Imo del Toro hasn't made a good film since pan's labyrinth and that was ten years ago
Especially Chastain. I really enjoyed this film, one of Del Toro's best and most personal imo. I thought of GDT pitching a film to potential investors during that scene where Hiddleston is trying to raise money for his clay mine lol.
I'd heard that this wasn't that good, so maybe it was just my low expectations going in but I thought it was pretty decent. Not del Toro's best work but well enough. The cinematography was great, and Chastain and Wasikowska were great in their roles. Hiddleston was okay but Hunnam needs to be stopped. Oh and Chastain looking like the bride of Dracula near the was just
.
It's a shame del Toro hasn't been able to make an English language movie as good as his Mexican ones. I hope he manages to do so one day. He's a good filmmaker, but he needs to work on his scripts.
I think the movie looks better on blu ray than it did in theaters.
That's also been my experience with Pacific Rim actually.
Although this specific shot was pretty much magical in the theater.

It really felt like it was looking up at it. Very memorable moment, personally.
