Anybody know about tinting windows???

Just bought myself a Black 2008 Toyota Camry! And I want to tint my windows but I keep hearing different things about whats legal and whats not??? Couple of my friends told me that its illegal to tint your passenger and drivers side windows but than I see a whole bunch people tint front windows like its not thing!!! So is it legal or what? And how much they usually go by???

Its illegal in California...check those cars you see w/driver and passenger tinted windows. Are they out of state plates?

You might be able to get away w/50% on the fronts.

State laws vary on what you can and cannot have, to include the level or percentage of blockage you're allowed. Check with your local DMV or State Police barracks.

no...a 70. The percentage of tint is the percentage of visible light that has to be able to pass through the window. I've been pulled over in San Jose before where the cops had a device that could test how much light was able to pass through your tint.

So if I go to a window shop I would ask for 70% tint on my front windows?

Yeah...or you can just ask them for the legal limit on the front windows...they'll know what to do. If you ask for 30%...your front windows will be pretty damn dark.

Or you can go old school, do it yourself and have teh awesome bubblezzz!

Thanks! I was browsing through those state laws and most states has the front windows visbility rate at around 35-40%

I know some places even have laws where the tint has to be manufacturer's tint. Meaning it has to come from the dealership like that.

i live in ma .. i thought it was 50% , these cops lie.
