Raimi has given us films with great cinematic elements. Minus SM3, his movies are the most complete out of all the Spider-Man films with excellent stories, action, editing, drama, etc. SM2 is the highpoint. His movies also feature the best use of the villains, so far. But...the areas that I felt his films suffered are within the characterizations. Peter was too much of a caricature, MJ was a waste, Spidey was too stiff, Ock too sympathetic, etc.
Webb's films feature the best live-action version of Spider-Man and also the best on screen chemistry between the leads. The actors filling most if not all the roles have a great deal of talent, unfortunately many did not get to exploit those talents. The cinematography looked gorgeous and Spidey has never looked so good flying thru the air. But...Webb's films suffer in almost every other area. The villains are a complete joke, the editing is horrid, although the characterizations were good for the most part--they were ruined by either lame/unecessary/unjustified deviations from the source or editing characters to death i.e. removal of Connor's family, or just complete removal of certain important characters altogether, i.e. Uncle Ben in ASM2, etc.
I voted Yes, that I am dissatisified with all the movies. I either have to pick to watch a Spidey movie that features a great Spider-Man and is on the whole a bad movie or watch a film that is very good but features a Spider-Man that is lacking.
I'll be satisifed when I can have both. In the same film.
