Sequels Raimi and Dunst on Spider-Man 4!

ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! talked to "Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi and star Kirsten Dunst today (Thursday) and we asked whether they would return for a fourth installment.

"Absolutely," said Raimi. "Yes, I just don't know what the future holds right now because it's so fresh and just having finished this film like a week ago. It's taken so many years to put together. My mind is an empty blank right now."

Good news! Also, Kirsten Dunst told us that she would do another film if both Raimi and Tobey Maguire returned.

Spider-Man 3 opens in conventional theaters and IMAX on May 4.

Although, I have to side with Raimi. I do think it's ridiculous for people to be asking about this when the 3rd one hasn't even hit American theaters yet.

I'm not putting more into this than what has been made out of it... only when we get conformation... which we are probably 6 months away from... I would imagine they would try to close the books on the characters Raimi brought in... but thats only Dr. Conners. Ofcourse they will add a side villain... of course no one knows where the franchise will go after that

Hey, I ain't saying she's the best looking. In fact, 90% of the time, she's not that great. But for most of the first Spider-Man and it looks like in Spider-Man 3, she's quite nice. Not to mention the way she looked at the Japanese press conference.

But still. If you think she's miscast, fine. If you don't think she's that great an actress, that's fine.

But people are just hating her for no reason, and it's childish.

It may be a little on the cocky side, but it's fairly true. You forget... the rest of the world isn't made up of fanboys. To the general public, Dunst and Maguire ARE the characters, and Raimi's the guy who makes it all good.

Now, granted, it wouldn't be a flop, the general populace would think it unnecessary and lame to swap actors. She's right in that aspect. She's out in the real world, in the industry.... she knows these things. She was being purposely hyperboled. But, nothing like fanboys to turn against someone in an instant like a rabid wolf because they take things too seriously.

UNLESS a Joel Schumacher takes over. Thats the problem. People get scared. First, you have Richard Lester taking over the Superman series in 1979. Then, Schumacher taking over the Batman franchise in the mid-`90s. People get worried when switches are made.

General audiences don't care about the actors as much as you think. Casino Royale made more than Die Another Day despite the fact that Brosnon had been playing Bond for last 5 movies. Batman Forever made far more than Batman Returns even though most people accepted Keaton as Batman.

A Spider-man movie can make just as much if not more with different actors and a talented director. Harry Potter has changed directors 3 times and the movies get better and better. Dunst is possibly the worst choice for Mary Jane and she's thinks she is a reason Spider-man movies make money. Give me a reason not to despise the conceited, snaggle toothed snob.

I'm all for recasting... but don't just bring one person back and let everyone else walk... if you can't resign all three then start from scratch... if either Tobey or Dunst walks both of them should stay out... if they get a new director and the same cast I can live with that... but that won't happen... so I like the idea of signing a new cast rather than losing more and more members of the original cast after every movie

Wayne's character is more important than Peter Parker's... its different... plus Tobey and Dunst had some chemistry together... it would be stupid if one left... also Rachel served her purpose but she definitely isn't a staple character in the mythos... its a lot different. Plus we are more used to seeing the two together.... Begins was only one movie and we only saw Bale and Holmes one time

Spider-Man, Harry Potter and POTC are the top franchises so they will get the best directors possible. Fox dicked around and then rushed X-Men 3 to get it out for last May on time, but if they waited could've gotten a better movie. Still made plenty at the box office. Sony isn't going to hand off the franchise to just anyone.

How many people noticed the two Jennifers in BttF? And people did not go see BttF II to see Jennifer, nor will people see TDK to see the new Rachel Dawes.

Maybe it is incorrect... but Tobey isn't the only Peter Parker out there... he can be replaced just like Bruce was many time over... I'd prefer they'd lock up a new cast so we are set for 4-6
