Anyone one had it, or knows someone who's had it?

My mother-in-law had it... but she still has to wear reading glasses.

I would love to get lasik because I've been wearing gas permeable lenses for 18 years or so.

I'd love to get it but I heard you have to be awake when they do the procedure and I don't know about that. I hate when anything gets close to my eyes.

I've thought of getting it. My parents probably wouldn't let me get it so I'd have to wait several years when I'd pay for it myself.

I had contacts my freshman year of high school but I didn't wear them a lot (didn't feel like dealing with them at 6am). Now that I'm in college and waking up later, I may try going back to them; especially since I can never find a pair of glasses I like.

I had it done. But that was back in 1999. I was awake through it all. They put some kind of clear thing in both eyes to keep me from blinking as the laser cut whatever it was supposed to cut or open or whatever. Like I said, a long time ago. But that day I went home I could see everything better. Had to wear goggle kind of things the first week as I slept to keep from scratching/rubbing my eyes. Had to be careful in the shower too for a few days. But my vision was/still is 20/15 in one eye and 20/13 in the other. Better than 20/20. No problems whatsoever at all in 10 years. Also, got the artificial tears drops that I had to apply several times a day to keep my eyes from drying out. Did that for 3 weeks.

But this was all 10 years ago. I have no idea what the process is now and what the recovery rate is. Oh and my vision was for crap. I was near-sighted. Couldn't read the blackboard at school from beyond the third row or so.

Hope this helps.

I don't want it but I had a friend that was done it. He says it worked just fine and after the next few days of wearing big blind person sunglasses.

I'm 23 and had it done about 2 years ago. It is great being able to see with what originally was 10-15 vision, now I'm 15,20. I'm a very rare case but ever since my surgery my tear glands don't keep my eyes moist, so now I have to use eye drops pretty frequently. Apparently it'll go away after awhile but I have to keep up on it otherwise I get eye infections but like I said it was worth it and I would do it again if needed.

Where I went it was $2,400 about $1,200 an eye, I think. We had this insurance deal at my work though where they just took 100 out of my check after I paid the intial 'whatever' percent.
