Anyone Here Ever Successfully Quit Smoking?

after the first 2 days, it gets a LOT easier as far as the actual nicotine addiction . . . the psychological addiction is another story though . . .

Is this Figman!?! FigmanJ!?! what up dude!?!

and if it's not figman, lol . . . just remember to be confident!! that WAS your last smoke . . . EVER . . .

just curious, what triggered you to smoke again after you quit in the past?

Hell yeah it is!

It's been awhile DV8, how ya been?

What triggered my gf and I to smoke again? We kind of both said F it and just started up because we really enjoy smoking.

The main reason we're deciding to quit this time is she is going to do that Avon walk for breast cancer in San Francisco and wants to get her stamina up. Me, well I'm just sick of being lazy and unhealthy.

I turned 28 a few weeks back and for still being under 30...I don't feel that young anymore...healthwise at least. Time to get my **** together, or at least try harder.

I recommend the patch to anyone who wants to quit. That's how I did it in 2000, and I haven't smoked since. The trick is

a) no matter what method you use, you've got to WANT to stop your body's artificially created desire for nicotene. The addictictiveness of cigarettes is INTENTIONAL. Cigarette companies are making you slowly kill yourself ON PURPOSE just so they can make a buck off of your suffering. Does that piss you off? Good, use your aggressive feelings and strike down the Marlboro Man with all of your hate!!

b) In the case of the patch - as with all medicines, follow all instructions. Many people think they have quit after using the patch for a couple weeks, only to relapse. Follow all the steps and you'll be weaned off smoking in no time.

FIGMAN!!! What's up buddy!?! good to hear from you bro!!!

yeah, it's time to make that decision . . . if nothing else, do it as moral support for your girl . . .

the last time I quit, I used exercise as a BIG crutch in quitting . . . and yeah, git yo **** togetha, sucka :cmad::woot::cwink:

Yeah, she definitely needs the support. She gets severe head aches and whatnot when she tries to quit.

It's great for me though, after that time where we quit for three months I never have that much trouble getting past those 4-5 days the nicotine is leaving your system. So in the last year and a half I've actually quit for a random week or two here and there, mainly would always start back up because she was still smoking.

Today is my second day and I don't really feel too much withdrawal. I think I can do it, it's a matter of having your significant other(who I live with)quit as well to keep the temptation farther away.

damn bro! you're a bad ass . . . I'm sure your eyebrows have been thanking you for not scorching them anymore . . . :o
[Homer]WHY YOU LITTLE!:cmad:[/Homer]

I quit cold turkey for 6 years one time.

Then I quit quitting.

I smoked for about a year during college. I quit cold turkey (used a ton of pain meds for that). Been off them for nearly two years.

I quit. It's been a few months now. I don't even keep track of the time. Mostly because of all the morphine I use now to stop the nicotine cravings.

does anyone else find the thought of daisy smoking..................
incredibly sexy?

:(:(
Wow, I conjuired up exactly the same thought as I did 3 years ago when i originally posted this...

I'm consistent...

I smoked for 6 years, but I've had only 4 or 5 smokes in the last 2 months.

Halcohol is a liar who likes to pee in his pants whilst getting a lapdance. Don't be fooled by his lies. He will eat our heart with a side of tossed cabbage and mayonnaise... i kid you nawt.

I smoked anywhere from 0.5-1.5 packs a day until I found out I was going to be a father. I finished a cigarette in the car had about 1/4 of a pack of Winston's left. I crumpled up the pack and threw them out the window. Haven't smoked one since. My baby girl will be 7 years old this week. Over 7.5 years later and I can't believe I ever smoked. The temptation arises from time to time, but then my stomach turns for some reason and I don't want it.

At least he doesn't go from smoking cigarettes & cigars to just smoking cigars and call it "cold turkey." :whatever:

Wut.

I quit a few years ago on a New Year's Eve. It was my New Year's resolution. I failed a few days after, and I was so disgusted that I couldn't fight the temptation, it gave me a new found strength to quit to this day.

I still smoke cigars on special occasions, like the other day on my friend's birthday, but that is still a very rare occurrence.

11 weeks tomorrow. It's really not that hard. Cold Turkey, hot turkey with gravy, open faced turkey sandwich, turkey leftovers, whatever you call it, it's actually gets easier the farther and farther away you get from when you stopped.

i'm still deciding wether i want to quit nicotine all together or not. I have a nicotine vaporizer so i'm getting the drug but no smoke or nasty chemicals.. seems the best comprimise for me. I can already breath so much better and still get that lovely feeling of nicotine after a meal or stressful situation. I tried a couple weeks ago and made it a week before the withdraw symptom of major mood swings was just to much to handle.

I quit smoking 1/2 an hour ago.

I think it's time to start again.

I actualy just quit last week. Definately a gradual thing, I gave myself a limit that I was allowed each day until a widdled it down to 0. Been workin so far. That and I replace the moments I want a cigarret with eating or pull ups.

F**k quitting. I tried quitting for a while and didn't see the point. I find it disgusting sometimes but really, after I eat, I don't mind a cigarette. When I'm drinking, I don't mind a cigarette. When I need to take a REAL break, I don't mind a cigarette. The only reason I have to quit is my health, and that's going to deteriorate no matter what so why deprive myself?

If it ever starts effecting me to the point where I'm winded after doing something I do daily, I might consider quitting for good, but for the time being, everything in moderation.

Well I'm a martial artist, so for me smoking is a close equal to cutting off my arms.
