Comics AoA vs. 616

Yeah, i dont like Kitty in any universe she is in. not sad she is rumored to be killed off soon. Mondo KICKED A$$. Oh man he was sooo much better that 616 Mondo and vincente was cool too..did he have a 616 counterpart?
Yes Vicente was part of Emplate's Hellions which came on around issue 12ish

Not so much a crapstorm as being called on what you're taking about. The ''I am the elemental goddess blah blah blah'' Storm didn't surface too bad until Claremont got his hand on her again. Storm circa 1995 was actually...you know..likable. that and her costume rocked hard!

I don't know if I really even remember her from comics around that time. I think I just have a general image of dislike concerning Storm, and the fact she was CC-esque in the animated series, which I -do- remember from the 90s, doesn't help matters. :woot:

Gambit: I liked the first look he had; with the leather jacket, but really hated the one with the weird cape thing. His razor blades looked pretty lethal. Was too fixated on rogue and love though; his story should be about redemption and walking the line between good and evil, not romance.

I think lookwise they really couldn't have done much more with Gambit without copying his 616, so that didn't bother me. Storyline wise... Well, I kind of liked it. Sure, he was a little too romance-hooked at first, but as the series progressed he moved on from Rogue. It worked out well. We got to see Gambit headline a book, lead a team, develop as a character, and (most importantly) move on from Rogue. I wish at least part of that could happen in 616.

I would've liked a scene at the end that showed him giving her the cold shoulder or something to show that he's moved on.

Crazy talk, i know.:whatever:

Well, you did get your "ruthless" scene where he offs Colossus. Can't complain too much there... Sadly, AoA Gambit is now dead, and he went pretty unceremoniously too.

That scene *was* pretty cool. Took him out with a single shot to the back. Goes to show powerful those explosions of his really are.

Did Gambit die? I should dig my AoA comics out and reread them. I don't remember him dying. I remember Bobby getting smashed by Colossus, but then Gambit took him out, and we didn't see anymore Gambit after that, did we?

Oh, wait, he was in that craptastic 10th Anniversary crap. Did he die in there? I don't remember. It clearly took me typing a full paragraph to remember he was in it. That crap Bachalo drawing. Argh. I don't want to remember if he died in it, because I don't believe the 10th Anniversary crap exists. :o :o :o :o

Yeah, he bit the dust in the anniversary... They had him get sucked into Cloak along with Nightcrawler and Dazzler. The second two made it back out, but Gambit was never seen again.

So didn't really kill him as much as they had him just "disappear." Shows you how they felt about the character, no? :whatever:

I really wanted to like the AoA anniversary but Blink wasn't in it...so it sucked

I didnt even bother to read any of the anniversary stuff and from what I heard, I didnt miss much bc it sucked

I liked it due to Husk, but it was a pale comparison to the original. I hate that the world survived to be honest. I'd rather have the anniversary be something to do with several survivors making it to this world (beside the original 4). I just think the AoA ended perfectly and the new stuff just kinda lessened the impact and danger of the ending of the original.

Trust me. EVERYONE agrees with you on that one, my friend.

all they had to do for the anniversary was say that AoA blink survived and is now in the 616...which kinda happened. the morph in exiles reminds exactly of the morph in AoA and the sunfire costume is now in the 616...if only there were a way to get the AoA sabretooth and wildchild over to the 616 and kill off 616 victor creed for good

Well, AoA Sabretooth is in Exiles, so that really wouldn't be hard to do. And apparently Wildchild's missing now since Sabretooth left.

and WHY must the freakin Phoenix be in EVERY damn universe and ALWAYS go for Jean ( i really hope i didnt open a can of stank worms) I remember that Jennifer girl, i think that was her name, coulda been jessica, that became the phoenix in the original Exiles book that was a malibu/Marvel crossover..let her be the damn bird already and let jean just be uber powerful

I think a bit like the Apocalypse shown here is not the exact replica of Apoc 616.

I mean, he didn't want to conquer the world with an army and all that, he wanted the world to be a battlefield. He somewhat fails to do this in AoA and converts into something more like a conqueror.

So...
Apocalypse 616 is better IMO than Apocalypse AoA

yeah...except 616 Apocalypse has accomplished..well, NOTHING since his entire existance...except cull the X-ranks for his latest incarnation of Death and his tired Horsemen.

AoA Apocalypse conquered the world. and when you have killed the weak, only the strong survive

well he screwed over Cyclops by infecting his son with the techno organic virus and had him sent to the future, but yeah Apocalypse tends to be more talk than actual threat. It doesnt help that arcs like BoA make him out to be a joke

No writer has really let Apocalypse stretch out his legs... I mean, it's always show up, find Horseman, come up with some lamebrained scheme... and ultimately lose.

I think Apocalypse could be an epic villain if someone really thought the storyline through.

I'm missing the reference here. There's a title called 616? I've never heard of this...

it is? When did they call it 616? What the heck does that even mean?

Alan Moore named it that while he wrote for Captain Britain back in the day. It simply means that "our" Marvel is the 616th universe in an infinite string of parallel realities, similar to DC's Earth 1 and Earth 2.

Ah. I was going to joke about it, but since it comes from Captain Britain, it's a-ok in my books. Since that's always been a story of multiple earths, it makes sense.

In AoA he seems to be weaker than 616. And it was quite short. And why does magneto killed him so easily?
That kind of things convinced me that AoA isn't the best Apocalypse dream.
There are many stories around apocalypse that doesn't make sense or make him look like always failing.
