Apple releases the iPhone: anyone getting it?

There was a video that was briefly on Apple's website that showed how to register an iPhone through iTunes for service. It showed them using an 80GB iPhone. It was quickly taken down. I'd say 2G of the device is going to be awesome.

Also, AT&T EDGE users started reporting a sudden massive gain in performance yesterday afternoon.

I'll gladly sell mine and then get the upgrade. I can't wait. I played with it hands on at the store. It's really insane.

Apple wasn't allowing pre-ordering.

Pre-Orders at the apple store were very much allowed. I had to put a down-p of about 60 and sign an agreement to start up new plan with Cingular. whom of which I am with. I even got a congrats email from 'em on my purchase.

Everything I've read has indicated that there were no pre-orders allowed. Period. So, that's news to me.

No thanks. Fun to visit (my wife is from NYC) and we've got lots of family and friends there but we really don't want to live there.

I'll take pics later tonight when I grab it up. But I never knew you had fam out here. Next time I'm in town and you're around we should hang out and I'll introduce you to my artist. Maybe even get yourself a new one >_> my dude is the ****.

It's been awhile since I was out that way. Just haven't had time to do so.

There are still pay phones?!?! I don't think I've seen one for a number of years.

yeah, I saw one the other day. I'm not sure how much it costs to make a phone call. I remember when it was 35 cents and then it jumped to 50 cents.

The last one I looked at was $.80 to make a call.

I see iphone as a useful gadget for occupied/travelling businessmen that actually need it. Otherwise I don't see the point. I also think the youth population throwing away 500 bucks at whim is ridiculous.

there's an AT&T store right outside my office building, and there was a crazy ass line out the door today with every news crew in Philly reporting about the lines.

I cant wait to see tonight's news:

Stiff Newscaster Type: "This just in....people are waiting in line!!"

*shock ensues*

Nope im an apple hater so i wont be gettin one lol.

Give me nokias any day!!

Our boss recently forwarded this email to us in response to a coworker asking if we would be selling it.

As of now, it can only be purchased at retail stores and ATT stores only. This should not be pushed as a business phone. It’s not 3G data network, only EDGE/GSM. See below:

Gartner to IT: Avoid Apple's iPhone - Network World
In an upcoming research report, the analyst firm Gartner will tell IT executives to keep Apple’s iPhone away from their networks. “We’re telling IT executives to not support it because Apple has no intentions of supporting (iPhone use in) the enterprise,” Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney says. “This is basically a cellular iPod with some other capabilities and it’s important that it be recognized as such.” The iPhone, scheduled to ship in the United States on June 29, appears to be a great consumer device but has no redeeming qualities from the perspective of a business user, Dulaney says. Besides lacking security features like a firewall, the product does not support Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Notes, so corporate users would have to forward e-mail to an Internet service provider, he says. Apple may not be making a direct appeal to enterprises, but AT&T is betting that business users will want the iPhone, the IDG News Service reported in April. AT&T plans to market the iPhone to business users and is making sure its backend enterprise billing and support systems will accommodate the device, the report stated. The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Apple does plan to go after the business market with the iPhone, but must come up with a strategy for integrating with business software systems that will be acceptable to IT executives. http://www.networkworld.com/news/2007/061907-apple-iphone-gartner.html

I think it's incredibly cool but I would hesitate to take something so expensive around in my pocket.

As cool as the iPhone is, I don't want one right now. I see no point in spnding 500-600 on a cellphone. There is an Apple store across from my Sears and I was there the night it came out, I have to admit it was a cool start up for the phone. They didn't open the store till 6pm and stayed open till midnight. They did have pre-sales of the phone a week prior to the release date. The line moved very fast and everyone got one...some bought 2-3 phones. And they still have a lot left too. Until it comes down in price or I become a manager at Sears or Lands' End I'll stick with my LG phone.

Even the mayor of Philadelphia stood in line for an iphone. As if he had nothing better to do, like improving the ****hole of a city.

What are the odds of me getting this if I dont even own a MP3 player?
