Yeah thats what I was thinking but it's not my RP. I was gonna wait until UK got back to help him sort things out but I see your point.

Well, I know in most RPGs and some other games you are allowed to change the name of the main character.
Allowing that here though allows everyone with a character from such a game to change the character's name if they wish (for instance Link could be called Skippy).
Personally I think the RPG should stick with the characters real name, but that's just me. As you say, it's UK's decision in the end.

In the Pokemon games, there really is no name for any playable characters. it asks you to type in a name for your character. When I played Crystal version, I named my character Kal, so it's not changing the name as much as it is naming a no-named character. Red was the final boss in the game, that's why I was confused before.

All RPGs give their main character a specific name. It's pretty much standard procedure for the genre.
And for Pokemon, Red is the name of the main character of the series.
