All RPGs give their main character a specific name. It's pretty much standard procedure for the genre.
And for Pokemon, Red is the name of the main character of the series.

Ok. his name will be Red. I thought I'd start off in kanto anyways. Maybe in a future season I'll do a johto arc.

You're probably right. I'm just going off of what I've read the main character's name to be as I don't play Pokemon.

Ash is the TV show. Red is the main character for the first 6 games (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal). 1 of them costarring Crystal, a girl, and that version was, of course, Crystalt:

You mean either my original plan or yours? I think it limits people too much, if people arn't a fan of the next game we go to, there's potential loss in amount of players.

No, but that's a movie, not a game. Whatever it showed or happened in it would have no impact on this RPG.

Ehhhhh... Yeah, I see where you're coming from. I think that if you're gonna play as an FF character, you start off as a level 1, then "level up" each season. Or something like that, I don't know.

I'm not just meaning FF characters, but RPG characters in general.
In any case, a character at "level 1" would be a complete and utter waste and wouldn't last five seconds against a lot of the other characters.

I do agree that they shouldn't be portrayed as god-like beings, but they shouldn't be completely neutered. As long as the player shows restraint and common sense, there should be no problems.
Of course the GMs would have to monitor the situation and make sure all goes smoothly. But that's a small concern when the alternative is excluding many great characters.
