Aquaman preview

CW would really be stupid not to have it as midseason. It's the one show that, even though it didn't make fall schedule, is the most talked about show- which shows them that the ratings might be really good. Which is what a beginner company wants. A very strong new show (s). With RunAway sounding already like a TV flop. Aquaman, especially if Heroes is a hit, is the obvious choice as a midseason show.

Remember the sci-fi series this year? Now Prison Break hit it big- seems to be a lot of "copy cat" crime dramas coming that spawned due to prison break. If Heroes is the next big hit- stations will want a super powered TV show..... CW already has their new one- Aquaman. At least, that's how I think it will play out.

I give give it to Sci Fi Channel. That would end up being ONE HELL OF A FRIDAY NIGHT

Exactly.

Replace that P.O.S. 7th Heaven with Aquaman. 7th Heaven is supposed to be over for crap sake.

Thus, I think 'Aquaman still being a contender for mid-season'- if Heroes hits off like NBC thinks it will. Aquaman will be the strongest contender.

LOST IS SUCCESFUL
- Surface
- Invasion
- Threshold
- Supernatural (somewhat, one of the new sci-fi shows)

PRISON BREAK IS SUCCESSFUL
- The Nine
- Hostage
- RunAway (father trying to prove that he didn't commit a crime- sound somewhat familiar?)
- A show about con-men

Etc. Prison Break seems to have spawned 'convict shows' in the crime show department. Heroes, if sucessful (most likely will be), will probably spawn shows about Heroes (adaptations to just people with powers).... CW will already have theirs and history shows that once a show is successful. Other networks start to create a similar show in hopes that they can attain the same success. CW will already have Aquaman- which, if Heroes is successful, can launch midseason- "these shows sell, go with Aquaman- good lord, you know we need the ratings." Thus, my theory- Heroes will make Aquaman the strongest 'competitior' making it more or less a "shoe in" for midseason.

I dont really think Supernatural was trying to be like Lost. Both are great shows, but not similar. I see what you mean, though.

That's why I put it in parenthesis- stating that it was different than the other shows, but still had a sci-fi aspect. And was grouped in with the other shows in every mag, wonder if they'll (magazines) notice the common link between all the new shows.... convict, running for your life, proving innocence, or victim of a crime, etc.

I'd love to see Sci Fi get more superhero shows. If you can trust anyone to treat the material seriously, it's the Sci Fi Channel. I mean, they air Andromeda and the campiest original movies ever every week with a straight face.

Check out the latest MOVIE MAGIC magazine. The magazine is primarily about Superman Returns. In it, it states that Aquaman has been picked up for fall season. While, we know now that that isn't the case- the CW had enough faith in the show to have an article about it in a magazine that many would end up reading! That shows me that CW did and probably does still have faith in Aquaman becoming a hit show. Perhaps the "series bible" needed more time in development and that is the reason for mid-season? I see it highly unlikely that CW would:

- set up plans for the trailer to premiere with Superman Returns
- bring it up so that many news casters know and still talk about it
- leak the trailer online
- get an article on it into a magazine
