Aquaman's Critical Reception Thread (Rotten Tomato and Metacritic)

Do you think Critics are being too harsh on Aquaman? Do you agree with some?

A real true exception to the rule is Suicide Squad. $325M in North America despite toxic reviews. People either genuinely loved the movie or they loved hearing the soundtrack on the big screen.

And man, IMAGINE, what more that movie could've done if it had a fresh tomato and a China release. It would've been a phenomenon and we'd be discussing SS2's Box office right now. Lol
Good point. Imagine if it had been good enough to get multiple rewatches from people as well. SS doing $450m domestic. :D

Imagine if BvS had gotten good reviews...

It would have been a completely different movie, if that were the case. Same goes for SS.
The argument could be made for MOS as well. Box office monstrosities.

Ah, moved up a bit since I last checked in.

I think the score its at at 200 reviews will more or less be the percentage it stays at.

Moved up to 69% with 120 fresh and 55 rotten. It’s been within 2 points of 69% for the last 70 or so reviews, so any sudden rises or drops are unlikely, IMO.

Chalk this up as a definite win for DC. Maybe not as big a critical win as we expected a week or two ago, but still a solid win.

All I know is this: the best two films in the DCEU feature a B&D-inspired heroine and a guy who talks to fish.

I would not choose any other time to be alive. :word:

I think now that the score seems to have stabilised at 68% we could expect it to go 1-2% up. Call me a cynic, but borderline reviews will be more likely to go up as “Fresh” now because the critics will want to be seen as going with the consensus.

Almost at 200 reviews. Meaning the % is more or less stabilized now. Won't go much higher than 70%. A fresh rating is a huge win though. Can't wait to see the Cinemascore.

That doesnt make sense

Nothing beats this when Man of Steel was released - which is currently my top DCEU film( Mind you I have not seen Aquaman yet).

Can someone here tell me when the last time they saw a f****king phone booth? Anybody?!! I'll wait...

Actually, In Superman The Movie, part of the joke was that he couldn't find a phone booth.

Ask Deadpool, there is one used in his marketing video lol.

Harry potter got a few phone booths over in the Uk.

MOS? or the one before it(Superman returns)?
No, Superman the Movie with Christopher Reeve. He’s looking to find a place where he can change into Superman to rescue Lois Lane, comes across a then-modern style outdoor pay phone(sans booth), gives it a look up and down, and walks right past it.

And that was from a movie from 40 years ago. The phone booth reference was getting old *even then*.

People hardly use landline now, let alone payphone... At least it is true here in the land down under.

I can't speak for the entire world but It certainly true for most of us if not the entire world. Either that lady's opinions are becoming too irrelevant for this business or she needs to take her meds.
