So with the fall of Marvel Legends and the evolution of the crappy Hasbro Legends, does anyone think DC is full aware of people's disappointment in the Marvel figures and will take full advantage (have same strategy as Marvel Legends - more articulation, great sculpts, and possible even - gasp - Build Your Own Figure? Transformers is doing Build Your Own Figure, can't DC do the same?). It seems like Mattel is heading into this direction with their new figures such as Darkseid, Mongol, Catwoman, Parasite, Supergirl. And it certainly seems that the Alex Ross Justice figures can keep on going even after the end of the series - look at the last couple issues - there are massive amounts of DC superstars appearing.

BAFs are planned for DCSH right now. But they won't dig deep into the DCU enough to rival the character selection of ML. They also will not expand on articulation over what they're doing. What they're doing is good, but it'll never rival ML. YOu won't see a batman with finger articulation.

DCD won't do much of anything different from the current strategy, but DCD and MLs are like apples and oranges. Different methods, different amounts of availability in terms of volume and retailers. DCD won't do anythin like BAFs. DCSH will.

Transformers is doing a BAF??

Saint553, I couldn't find any pictures, but about 6 transformers (I think from an animal transformers line - there are so many transformer lines now) come with a piece to form some alien from the Transformers universe, but the figure you build is not a transformer, it's just a plain ol' not-so articulated alien. But still, you need to collect 6 pieces to make this alien. They have the right idea and are on the right track though.

Do you know what BAFs are planned for DCSH?

Ooooh. Beast Wars 10th anniversary editions. What a rip off. They're charging twice as much for rereleases from 10 years ago with a crappy BAF. Dumb concept.

No idea on the BAFs but I've read about it in several interviews.

Yeah the Best Wars figs make some crappy little lanky Alien

So this is what should happen.....DCD liks to make little artist Specific Lines....they should make one line and call it the PLayability Line...or DC Superposeable.

Or DC Action Pack......something like that .....and in this line they should relese some high quality Super Articulated DC Characters.....I'm not saying to the current MLness....But I am thinking ML 1-4 era.

I'm talking Double Knee, Double Elbow, Ball Shoulders, Semi Ball Crotch Joints and thigh Swivels, Chest, neck, hands and feet....I dunno, Take out your ML1 Cap or Iron Man and look at them. DCD can still do thier quality with that poseablility.

Anyway, Wave One could be Batman, Joker, Flash, Captain Cold and Robin.

Cause Basically everyone and thier dog wants Batman, and Batman needs Robin and Joker...The Flash is a Character that can be made to show that this line will hit every corner of the DCU....And Flash needs to be done because all the prior DCD Flashes can't really be posed running properly. And Captain Cold for Flash to fight.

Wave 2 - Superman, Lext Luthor (Battle Armor), Green Lantern, Sinestro and Lobo.

I am thinking they could basically do these in twos so every hero will have a villain and then the fifth will be a characer that either fits in with the first sets or doesn't really have a big enought villain to make. The fifth can also be a great change for DCD to Delve into Obscurity.

Wave 3 - Green Arrow, Dr Light, Wonder Woman, Cheeta, Black Canary

Wave 4 - Deadshot, Hawkman, Two Face, Aquaman and Black Manta

Wave 5 - Darkseid, Mr Miracle, Martian Manhunter, Despro and Supergirl.

Okay so I don't know the DCU well enough to desing these waves...It was hard not to put Uncle Sam in there.

Anyway that is what DCD can do and they will see that this line extrememly rocks and sells uber well, so they will make more.

They should do that, but they don't. We should be glad to get what we do. DCD or just DC in general seems very odd when it comes to it's figures and articulation. Very cost efficient and generic.

I know.....but the money they could make....they would sell two to three times more batman figs if they did my idea.

They already sell tons of less articulated and cheaper batman figures in the The Batman line. And in the JLA wave. Articulation costs money as it's more plastic and more labor (more chinese kids on an assembly line). They could care less about collectors.

Yeah but they should.

Are you telling me that just bcause someone already has a cheaper Batman that they would not buy a New Articulated one?

I know FTB would cream in his pants and buy two despite his 13 plus other Batman figs.

I know that if Toybiz came back into existance and started making DC Legends I would buy them all just like I bought the MLs.

No, I'm telling you that they wouldn't make and sell a newer articulated batman when they can make one for cheap and sell it for a nice profit.

Toybiz still exists. They're just looking for new liscenses.

Then they shoudl totally steal the DC License from Mattle....that would rule.

And don't say never....I could see DCD eventually doing some Super Articulated figs.

As For Toybiz.........they should get the WWE License, though I doubt WWE will leave Jakks.

Toybiz should take over Mortal Kombat....cause Jazzwares doesn't deserve them.

Hmmmmmm Whatelse could Toybiz do....I am thinking something with lots of characters that the Super Articulation can really apply to.

I think Updated 6 inch Battle Beasts would rule...but NEVER Happen.

Toybiz should strike up a deal with Dark Horse or Image or something.....

Actually.....In a blow that will devastate Hasbro like Marvel Leaving devastated Toybiz...TB should get the Star Wars License...they never will get it but damn, that would rule....Star Wars will never leave Hasbro.

I've had a hard time trying to figure out what Toybiz should do. I'd imagine they'll pick up some movie lines as there aren't really many cartoons I see being big enough or worthy enough to pick up.

But what Movies......There aint much like Lord of the Rings coming out.....Big Cast Many Characters awesome action figureness Mega Popular Movies seems to be thier bread and butter.

Prolly the hobbit if it ever gets made.
But Toybiz without marvel is like a big empty canyon of nothing. What else is even popular now???

........They should dig up some old Classic Epic trilogy and start making new figs from that.....but what old Classic movies are there that would have enough characters and enough appeal?

Mad Max?

I once asked Jesse about a couple of different liscenses he'd like to do. Can't remember what he said, but the main ones were star wars and DC. But whatever they pick up would have to be appealing to kids as well.

They could pick up the Roughneck Liense.....I could atually keep them going for quite a while

For the first time I will post an official list of all action figurable characters in the Roughverse.....though I might take it down in a couple Hours.

Roughneck
EPIC
AfterMath
Midnight Ice

YOU MISSED THE REST OF THE LIST

Oh and my other Epic in Progress, Timeslip, could also mak a lot of great figs, BAF Dinasours, Nazis, Greeks, Knights, Zombies....**** man...Timeslip has it all.

I swear, there is something in canada's water supply.

Nope....Just in mine....and it's called....pure creativity.

Okay I'm not so great with names....but some of these charcters are frikking great and original.....and like Superman and Batman and Spider-man aren't stupid names......we just got used to them.

Well, I doubt that Mattel's DC Superheroes line could ever match up to the Legends. Legends was the most bang for your nick that ever existed in action figure history if you ask me. Awesome figure, base/baf piece, and a comic book to boot all for less than what Mattel's DC line offers.

The Mattel line is nice, but it's too comparatively expensive to Legends to match up properly. Unless Hasbro unexpectedly knocks our socks off, they won't match up to the Legends we were given by the Biz.

For DC Superheroes to rival Marvel Legends, Mattel would have to acquire the master license. One of the great characteristics of ML was the wide variety of characters available, from mainstays like Captain America and Hulk to more obscure characters like Man-Thing and Deathlok. Right now, DCSH can only make figures based on characters from the Batman and Superman universes.

As Cyclops mentioned, the value of Legends cannot be matched. DCSH figures typically cost $10 for just a figure and comic on flimsy cardboard, whereas Legends figures can be found for $8 with a figure, comic, and a base in a sturdy clamshell.

The newest DCSH figures show promise, but Mattel will need to improve variety and cost if they hope to achieve Marvel Legends status.
