WHat I mean is, Superman's got Captain Marvel, Hyperion, Supreme, Prime, & countless others. Batman's got Nite-Owl, Daredevil, guys like them. Cap's got Fighting American, Iron Man's got Steel, the list goes on & on. Does any big leaguer NOT have a parallel hero somewhere?

Nite-Owl is a parallel of Blue Beetle, not Batman.

Kind of see the BB parallel but with the whole night/nite aspect it's easy to get it confused. But yes, everyone wants to have the most famous superhero on thier team, even if they are already spoken for. We even have parallels of parallels who are complaints about the original is ripping them off when the parallel changes too much and the original doesnt something similar. See the parallels for Darkseid, Deathstroke (who I'm pretty sure is a parallel of someone else), among many others.

Methods say BB, look says Batman.

I think Deadpool is a parallel of Deathstroke. Even the name; Slade, Wade. But I like the argument of everyone wanting the most famous hero, even if they're already taken.

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery there is.

I think this thread kinda doesn't make sense, because of the qualifier "major." (It makes the threads principle question almost impossible to answer) I think that having a parallel is a part of the definition of "Major." Also, this format has been around so long that everything good has been copied, which is good because it enables creativity on the storyline level.

Best parallel: Old Supes being turned into the big red cheese (who is almost completely useless and horrible) then Capitain Marvel going overseas to be converted to Marvelman, which would have been as useless and stupid as his predecessor until a guy named Moore taught us all that sometimes reinvention is better than invention, and that parallels can be better than the characters they are based on

Who is DC's Spectre's parallel? Green Lantern's? Death's Head/Minion? Cable? Lobo?

Spectre = Ghost Rider
Green Lantern = Doctor Spectrum
Death's Head = Deathlok
Cable / Bishop = Booster Gold
Lobo = Drax the Destroyer

Just some guesses on my part. :D

Stories are similar if not the look.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Wait a minute...Deathlok is another Marvel character, what would be it's DC parallel?

Who said they have to be from another company? Look at Death Wreck and Death Metal (who some guy on wiki claims are parallels.) Also this is what I'm talking about on the qualifier tip, seriously we're talking MAJOR but what makes something MAJOR (by the way I don't think Death's Head is major but apparently that doesn't preclude parallels.)

On the Cable tip: I once heard (not sure where) that Magog from Kingdom Come was modeled after cable and other marvel characters from the eighties that Waid & Ross thought were no good

There really is no proper parallel to Spider-Man. I've been waiting for DC's ripoff of Spidey as Marvel has frequently ripped Superman, but...

I heard the Magog one too...I think it was with an interview with the writer's/artist's...they wanted to take everything that they hated about "modern" heroes when they were making/designing Magog.......I think?...:huh:

I can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that whatever doctor doom posted as a parallel to Bruce Timm's Clayface. BTW can somebody identify what the hell this is? Fantastic 3, Thrilling three? What is it?

Terrific Trio-a not-so-thinly-veiled knockoff of the FF, which was featured in an episode of "Batman Beyond".

Last I checked, Galactus was considered a villain.

Does it have to bee from another company? Because if not I'd have to say that last one is easy: Apocalypse

Galactus' parallel would Imperix.

And Ben Grimm's parallel is Robot Man from the Doom Patrol.
