Are there even any comic book stores near you anymore?

There were like 3 where I lived back in like the mid 90s, now the only one I know of is downtown Chicago on Madison...if you live here, you know where it is.

Nope, closet one is 15 to 20 minutes away but I don't go to that one the one I shop at is 30 to 40 miles away

Mine is like 2 minutes away from my job. Very convenient.

There's one about 10 or 15 minutes from my house.

There's 2 of them within a 3 minute walk from my house and a 3rd one within a 15 minute walk.

Population of my home town... 128 000

:yay:

My city is about the same size and we've got three stores, plus Borders which kind of haphazardly carries comics. My nearest store (and the best one in town) is about a 5 minute drive from my house.

Hey Terry78 I go there too! I take the el from Central all the way to Wabash/Madison. It kind of sucks that I have to go from the purple line to the red line then to the brown line but it's worth it.

Right now the closest one is half an hour away, but that's cause I live in small town that's half an hour away from the nearest city. There are 2 in that city. When I move up to Minneapolis next month though, there will be one litterally only a few blocks away from my college though.

There's a shop in the next town. It's 25 minutes away from home (by freeway), but 5 minutes away from work (back-roads). I always pick up my books during my lunch breaks on Wednesday or Thursday.

There's a second shop near me, but it's in the opposite direction. It takes me a hell of a lot longer to get there, since I have to trek the back-roads for about 10-15 minutes after 15 minutes on the freeway. Then when I reach my destination, I have to park a block away.

There are four comic shops in the Gainesville area that I'm aware of. I go to the one by the mall (yeah, "the" mall--there's only one major indoor mall in Gainesville) because they have the best discounts and the guys there are good with recommendations of indie stuff. The shop's called Mega Comics. It's maybe 5 miles from where I live, but I'm moving tomorrow so it'll be closer to 10 miles away from then on.

I sometimes hit the other stores in town if I'm looking for back issues and I can't find them at Mega Comics, but I very rarely look for back issues. Trades I order off of Amazon because they usually have better discounts and I don't have to drive around the whole city. There's one shop I'm a little afraid to go in because the one time I did, there was a barefoot hobbit playing the gee-tar who informed me that they don't get new issues.

The closest one to me is 40 minutes away, so I go through Midtown Comics' mail subscription service. The shipping and handling is cheaper that the money I would spend in gas to go there every week.

Half hour drive to the one next to the college.
Which now is starting to look like wino central. There's a closer one but the dude there acts like a used car salesman trying to get all these kids to buy variant covers. Telling them that they will be worth lots of money one day. Thats wrong! So i have to step over bums to the other one.hehe just another day in Vegas.

Haha, Coruscant.

Me and my roomie/best pal (SpecterX313) shop at a comic store called Comics to Astonish, that's probably at most 10 to 15 minutes away from our apartment.

There is one 45 minutes away (driving)

and on the other side, there's one about 30 minutes away (walking) but who wants to hike to the comicbook store?

I have two eight blocks away from me in opposite directions and then the one I go to regularly is about 5-10 minutes away.

yup there is one 5 minutes away. the owner is a really cool guy, and I think I'm putting his kids through college. damn paper addiction

How much do you spend every week? I think the dudes at my shop must love me because not only do I spend way too much every week, I actually try a lot of indie stuff and listen to their suggestions.

I wish there were dudes around here like that. Only recommendations I get come from the SHH! Recommendations Thread. Of course, they could play me for a sucker. Whatever money that I get that doesn't go to, ya know, important stuff (gas, insurance, etc.) goes to comics. I'm more into collected editions than single issues though...and the market for TPBs and HCs is better online.
