The Amazing Spider-Man Are You Happy About The Reboot?

Are You Happy with the Reboot?

  • Heck Yeah! They'll finally do it right this time! Bring on the quips!

  • Heck No! I loved me some Raimi and Tobey!

  • Not sure yet. I'll wait and see who they get replaced with.

Well, are you?

I can't wait. We'll finally get a funny Spider-Man, they'll finally leave his mask on. No Power Ranger Green Goblin. Venom for more then 2 seconds. Sandman ISN'T Uncle Ben's killer. MJ doesn't look like an old lady. Peter will actually be in high school for more than the first 30 minutes of the film like Stan did it. We'll get a Peter that isn't monotoned! The list goes on and on.

Me and you think so much alike its disgusting. I would have preferred though Peter being in college. I'm still not sold on the whole high school thing. It could work.

I didn't like Spider-Man 3 (didn't hate it though), I didn't care for Tobey, Kirsten was nice in Spider-Man, bad in 2 and meh in 3 and there were other problems I had with the movies. However, I wouldn't mind to see a sequel, especially since I liked 1 and 2 and even after Spider-Man 3, I was excited.
However, since Raimi and Sony were disagreeing about the story/villains, I'm glad we're not getting a sequel. I don't want another Spider-Man 3.

So, yes. I'm excited. Of course I want to hear some other news first, but I'm optimistic and very excited.

The logical side of me knows it should be the third (neutral) option. But the overenthusiastic and hopeful side of me right know is bursting with ideas in the possibilities a new take can give us.

So I'm going with the first.

My sentiments exactly.

Yeah, I'm happy about the reboot. After three movies, I'm ready for a fresh approach and a new cast. I love SM-1 and SM-2, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

I'm hoping to see a much more loyal interpretation of my fav Spidey villain, Doc Ock, somewhere down the line. I loved every second of Alfred Molina's Doc Ock, but I want a Doc Ock who's evil entirely of his own free will.

And I'd love to see the Stacy family be properly incorporated into the movies, paving way for hallmark stories like the Death of Captain Stacy during a Spidey/Doc Ock battle. And of course the immortal Death of Gwen Stacy at the hands of Green Goblin.

Really there's so much potential and storylines to do that were not touched upon in Raimi's movies. Of course there's a chance it could all be screwed up, but there's also a chance it could be even better than Raimi's movies.

Yes, I am very happy about the reboot, but I'll keep my excitement down until I learn more about what the next film will be. The possibilites of the reboot really excites me though:up:

Oh whatever. Anyone who is here posting away about this reboot is going to be in line opening day, midnight showing. And anyone who says otherwise is lieing.

I've NEVER been to a midnight showing, and the only time I've ever went to see a movie on opening night was for X2, and that's only because I had off that day and was able to buy my tickets earlier in the day.

Also, not liking the reboot at this point has nothing to do with going to see the movie two years from now. I just feel that it's too soon, that we have more good stuff to lose than we have to gain, and that encouraging the legions of reboot supporters will just cause more problems.

We are not saying that this reboot will be terrible and that we won't see it. We WILL be seeing it opening night. We are just saying that we wanted to see S-M4 with the same cast and crew and a reboot is a bad idea.

Yeah, but since Raimi and Sony were having problems, like they did with Spider-Man 3 (Raimi being forced to use Venom), would you really have prefered if Raimi stayed and made Spider-Man 4? Or what about if he still left and we got a sequel with the same cast, but a different director?

They were going to reboot it after 4 anyway, since 4 would have been Raimi's (and Tobey's, Kirsten's, etc) last Spider-Man movie and since he left, they decided to do it now. Even if they had made Spider-Man 4, they still would have made a reboot this quickly after 4. Spider-Man sells and they're not going to put the movies on hold because some fans think it's weird to have a reboot so soon.

Anyway...

I actually am kind of happy about the reboot. I really like Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man 2 was great but Spider-Man 3 really soured me to the series to the point where I wasn't excited at all for Spider-Man 4.

For the next movie I'm hoping for more wise cracking from Spidey, MUCH more Gwen Stacy, Web shooters, more acknowledgement of Peter being a genius, less of the sympathetic villain stuff, end of pointless death of villains (a trend TDK finally ended), more likable MJ.

I do feel bad though that this reboot basically put hundreds of people out of work they were expecting to have.

Me and you think so much alike its disgusting. I would have preferred though Peter being in college. I'm still not sold on the whole high school thing. It could work.

I'm sold on it for three reasons. Stan Lee's run on Amazing had Peter in high school and they are still some of the best Spider-Man comics to date. Ultimate Spider-Man may have been the best version of Spidey ever and he was always in high school. And Spectacular Spider-Man the cartoon.

They are making the right move. All my buddies would ask me how I would do it, knowing I'm a huge fan. After saying he'd be much funnier if I'd did it, I'd say he'd be in high school for all three films.

We may as well accept the reboot.

There's nothing we can do about it.

Maybe they'll base it off Ultimate/Spectacular Spider-Man

Seriously though, you said "anybody".

Right. I'm saying that EVERYONE here is going to go see this movie right when it comes out. He's trying to play it off like he wouldn't if they do an origin story again. We all know that's not true.

The problem with Spider-Man in high school is that everybody knows that when you're at that age, you're an idiot and nobody cares what you do. The only reason that Peter Parker was remotely competent was because he was a huge nerd, which typically goes hand in hand with being (slightly) more mature.

Right. I'm saying that EVERYONE here is going to go see this movie right when it comes out. He's trying to play it off like he wouldn't if they do an origin story again. We all know that's not true.
You guys (who are against Raimi) say you wouldn't see S-M4 if "this" or "that" wasn't in it, which us Raimi supporter knew wasn't true.

DACMAN, can I borrow your crystal ball?

Since you seem to know everything this reboot is going to contain.

You have no idea what everybody is going to do. If it is a ****ty movie, why the hell would I go see it?

If Michael Cera was Peter Parker and 3 of the 6 writers of Scary Movie wrote this...I would not go see it. It could be **** for all you know...you don't know:o I am not going to go see the same movie I saw less than 10 years ago. Why? Because they will keep doing it over and over and over.

I cannot wait for SM3.2 because REBOOT:awesome: 2022...I can't wait!

If Sony is smart they'll name this movie "The Amazing Spider-Man"

I think it's stupid that they're doing the whole origin story over again when it was just done ten years ago. It would have been better to just start out with Peter Parker adult and established as Spider-Man.

You do realize these two sentiments are practically contradictory by concept, right? Unless you're open to the case of a bad idea turning into a good product. Though by nature that wouldn't be a bad idea in the first place, as a result.

1) Where does it say an origin story is going to be retold?

2) Even if it was, is it not feasible to tell it in a fresher way?
