not knowing what to do and not caring enough to find out are why I'm not in shape.

Meatbag, you should just ask someone if you wanna learn. Most weightlifters are happy to help out a rookie...I know I would help, as would Shadowboxing and jag

well, what would you like to learn? How to build muscle? Burn fat? add size to the ole guns?

I'm not motivated enough

Ah, motivation. I subscribe to the Superman79/Dr. Cox from Scrubs theory...learn to look in the mirror and totally hate what you see. That motivates :D

Seriously though, if all you want is general good shape, take up a sport, like softball or basketball, then you'd be having fun and not wrrying about actual "excersise".

The final option is to choose a spandex clad superhero to go as for Halloween, actually being able to wear spandex in public and not look like a hoser is a GREAT motivator (my Superman costume is currently working for me )

Problem is when I look in the mirror and hate myself I recognize that the solution is to stop looking in the mirror

and then go post on the Hype.

Seriously, though, I recognize that if I stopped eating Taco Bell 5 times a week and went running every day, Im sure I'd be in great shape.

I've got a little bit of a gut (not too bad of one), but I've taken up running.

LOL!!!

I'm 5'6 1/4 and a little over 170. I could be thinner, and I'm working on it.

Yes and No. Yes, because I have almost nothing to complain about from the position of a average person. I have a defined mid section, muscular love handles, decent overall frame, 10% or less bodyfat, and I am at the level I'd need to be to be competitive as a college athlete. However I am also incredibly in tune with my body and realize I could/should get bigger (to about 200lbs even), ought to be putting up 300+ lbs on bench and 400+ on squat, one of my legs fires faster than the other, my balance needs work. And after I mass up I ought to aim for 3 or 4% lower on bodyfat as well.

You're overly motivated

Not happy, but it's because I haven't been to work.

When I return next week and work in the sun the pounds will melt off :)

Yeah I guess, I'm 5' 6'' weigh about 128 and I'm lanky/kinda muscley. I've actually gained some weight since I became a vegetarian again.

My body sucks. Iv lost over 30 pounds of muscle since july 2004. When I was it basic training I could run 1.5 miles in 8 minutes 30 seconds. Now im no Steve prefontaine but thats damn good for being 6 2 220 pounds. Now im 190 and cant run to my kitchen without stopping in the living room for a breather.

havent you been doing pt at your unit?

I just got off my weight machine, and I've gained 10lbs. this summer...

I just need to learn how to tone better and gain strength/muscles.

I'm in the area of six two, I weigh a little over 200.

I'm happy with it.

wow, you have a few pounds on me, but my biceps are 16 as well (which is probably why people think I weigh more than I do...do you mind if I ask your chest and waist size...just for comparison sake?
Waist - from bellybutton across (widest point) 41".
Chest - from nipples across 42".:)

^That was way too much information, brah. I'm going to be up shivering all night. :(
