Arnold Is Back for Terminator 5

I think the series can survive without Arnold. The Model 101 sheath (which is his) is one of countless sheaths SkyNet has for their Terminators, it's not just limited to that one. I'd be fine if Arnold didn't return for the next movie, to me the series isn't about him, it's about the Connors and their attempts to avert Judgment Day from happening in their timeline while avoiding threats SkyNet sends their way. They can still do good stories without Arnold being in it.

For me, the only Terminator-related project I'd care to see Arnold back for would be a RoboCop Vs. Terminator movie, which by now probably won't happen (not live-action, at least).
I said that Arnold was too old for the role so you don't have to convince me of that. He is too old and it would be dumb to bring him back.

I guess the series can survive without Arnold but it needs a director with vision (not McG or that guy who directed T3) and it needs far better scripts. The visionary director should also be able to do it on a budget. Spending 200mil on the film shouldn't be an option because the movie's don't make enough to justify that kind of a budget. Also I'm still not feeling the actors they have cast as adult John Connor; Bale is a good actor but he was just a little too cold and rough in that film to be inspirational and Nick Stahl was just flat out miscast, he just comes off as too much of a wuss.

I thought Bale did fine in Salvation as Connor. I think his rough approach to the role worked since Connor was under so much pressure though and he still was stepping to the plate as the leader of the resistance, so it makes sense to me his personality would be a little on the cold side of things. Stahl is a good actor but I agree he was too whiny in T3 and he also seemed idiotic at times (which I fully blame on the script).

Anyone think Dwayne Johnson could pull off the Terminator role?

I'm not sure if The Rock could unsettle me as much as Arnie did in T1.

What would this movie be about now that John has finally found Kyle? Discovering that the T-800 now exists with a human skin? SkyNet now has the ability to use time travel?

I will never understand how people liked Salvation more than Rise Of The Machines.

Arnold as an aging Resistance soldier could work if handled properly. It would be fun to further develop Connor's relationship with that face. Salvation has to go though. The future needs to be bleak and violent.

oh! and then there's this:

Rise of The Machines seemed more like a T2.5 it offered no story progression just the simple explanation "judgement day was inevitable" crap. Salvation at least took it to post judgement day and tried to tie in the future to the past (T1)

I liked some of the T3 extras showing Arnold as a soldier that the model 101 took the likeness for.

My biggest problem is keep surrounding one terminator, they need to make it more future war based and stop with the whole 'goodie' terminator thing, it was good in T2 thats it!

I am of the mind that the only way to make a T5 with Arnold is to make him a solider on whom the Terminators likeness is based. Otherwise, don't bother

I liked Salvation better because I liked the backstory behind the Future War and having an entire movie for once set during it. I also like that it had a much more serious tone, compared with T3 which was almost a spoof of T2.

At this point I want a director who's gonna breathe new life into the franchise. The last two have been definitely disappointing as fans. We want something fresh. But it starts from the head up from the producers to the director.

Bring back sarah connor chronicles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

shame it ended how it ended, right when it got pretty good and solid and awesome.

I know right? It was such an amazing series! Admittedly during the middle of the second season it got kinda lame, but it was firing on all cylinders when Fox killed it. Really the best thing to do with the Terminator fanchise would be to bring the show back, They would have a TON of intrest because they would be reviving "two" franchises at once.

I loved Sarah Conner Chronicles. Such a shame it got canned.

I love TSCC as well. IMO it's the best post-T2 continuation of the series, not counting the Battle Across Time attraction at Universal Studios.

See I actually like T3 and T4 alot, but yes T:SCC was the FAR more intelligent follow up to T2.

Skydance Hops On "Terminator" Reboot

By Garth Franklin Tuesday December 4th 2012 07:08AM
A year-and-a-half ago Megan Ellison's Annapura Pictures won the bidding rights to "The Terminator" franchise with plans to launch a new series of films. Now, she has closed the complicated rights deal with Pacificorp. She's also enlisted the help of her brother, David Ellison, as her financial and creative partner on film.
While she runs Annapura, he runs Skydance Productions which produced such films as "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," "Jack Reacher" and many of Paramount's 2013 tentpoles including "Star Trek Into Darkness," "World War Z," "Jack Ryan" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation"
No studio is presently attached to any future "Terminator" films, not even Paramount where Skydance has its deals in place, but any further movies will now be a co-production between Annapurna and Skydance.
They are also starting from scratch again on the project and are currently seeking a screenwriter. The clock is ticking however as the rights revert back to creator James Cameron in 2019.

So...it's a reboot? That's a dumb idea. The only two Terminator films that are done well are getting remade for today's audience. What could possibly go wrong?
