Arnold Is Back for Terminator 5

My dream director for another film would have been Neill Blomkamp.

Not only one the most talented up and coming sci-fi directors, but he's also a huge fan. The original Terminator film inspired him to become a filmmaker.

He's better off doing his own original projects, though.

By the time it reverts back to Cameron...They will probably have done a dozen more sequels till then. lol

I don't know, man... given the franchise's history, they've only made two films in the last two decades (Post-T2).

I liked TS but I pretend T3 doesn't exist . Justin Lin doesn't scream masterpiece but he's capable of good action so hopefully this works out.

Awful.

Awful.

Awwwwwwwfulllllllll.

:csad:

Although it's kinda inferior to the first two, I thought "3" was actually a decent movie and nowere near as bad as it could have been. I personally thought Salvation was awful. Christian Bale was pretty bad in it as well.

Mark Kermode done a pretty good job of summing it up. :awesome:

Machines age?

The only way I see this working is if they meet the human that the Terminator was modeled after. Because lets face it...he is old and out of shape.

Robert Patrick could play a scientist trying to create a way to regenerate
dead tissue on burn victims. The liquid Terminator is designed on his image.

Arnold could be a firefighter with severe burns due to an explosion. The computer has his information,so in the future all Terminators resemble him.

Universal doesn't have the rights to The Terminator yet, so this whole business about Justin Lin is directing and Arnold on board is all studio talk. I'm sure they're trying to put them in the running, but nobody has the rights package.

I'd wish Cameron would direct but he's busy with those bad blue alien sequels...

Not excited about this at all; the Terminator franchise should have ended a long time ago.

Salvation was waaaaaay better than T3. The only thing that T3 had that was really good was the ending.

And Bale was a superior John Connor to Nick Stahl's crybaby version. Actually, I really liked Bale's Connor, I just wish that they had more John Connor in that movie. I'm hoping that he returns to the role and that they use William Wisher's treatment.

This **** is hi-lar-i-ous.

Wisher's involvement would cushion the blow of Lin.

Is it wrong i'm blindly excited for this for some reason?!

Do Arnie like they did with Jeff Bridges as Clu in Tron Legacy just cgi a younger version of his face onto a body double but then they did do that in Terminator Salvation but only for a short time.

I'd agree Nick Stahl was abit of a nancy lacking Edward Furlongs edgyness. But I found Christian Bale to be as robotic as the robots he was fighting. If I think of back Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2. She was also this super-hard character. But she also had humanity around her and dimension. Actually, I'd say quite alot, Throughout the movie she went through the motions of being frustrated, aggressive like an animal, repressed, confused and enlightened and all that jazz. Like that wonderful scene in which she's sort of watching The Terminator with John Conner character. Salvation has none of that, when it attempted to, it didn't resonate. It's Christian Bale being an angry cookie monster.

The thing though that got me, it didn't feel like a Terminator movie, or in general, have much in the way of fun. I didn't have that problem with 3. It had a couple of great action scenes, a couple of funny moments and references to the previous movies. It was alright, didn't blow my socks off. But wasn't the disaster it could have ended up being.

They didn't do that. They used another actor for the body, and had an old sculpt of Arnold's head and face for reference.

read about the news earlier. curious to see what they end up doing. as for lin i think he is a pretty solid director. So cant wait for more news.

This series will never be good again until it remembers why it was awesome; Sarah Connor/T-101 relationship.

John is barely anything. He's always been blah...

Since Linda is gone/Sarah is dead this series will be nothing more than explosions and boring chase scenes with characters we don't care about.

The problem with the role of John Connor in Terminator Salvation was that it didn't have enough John Connor. A lot of the scenes that developed Connor's character were cut out of the film. Bale did a great job portraying the attitude Connor should have considering his childhood and adulthood, but there was just no development for the character.

Arnold is indeed too old now to play the Terminator again, but there are still roles for him.

Like someone mentioned, they could pull a Clu, having him voice his CGI self. Get the same team behind Clu and Benjamin Button to do it and it will be fine.

And/OR the other idea that has been kicking around many forums for years: Have Arnold play the guy that the original 800/101 was based off of.

I wouldnt mind at all if they just pulled a Tron and did both at the same time.
