I disagree, without Arnold this series has died. Because Arnold is too old and nobody seems to have any good ideas I think that the series should end. Terminator Salvation was bad enough, we don't need a worse movie than that one.
I would agree that Arnold's name was a draw for T3, but not for Terminator Salvation. Attemping to shoehorn in a CGi Arnie just to get a few more asses on cinema seats was a bit obvious - TS wasn't a fantastic film by any means, but its storyline was able to function just fine without Arnold being in the lead or featuring prominently.
I guess we are both skirting around the one subject - the Terminator films need some fresh and compelling writing, both for story and script, without relying on gimmicks like bringing back an aging Arnie to play the T800 yet again.
I'm always surprised that Hollywood can be so superficial about people's looks, and aging, etc ........................ yet can't seem to grasp that they can't keep making sequels decades apart and expect the audience to buy that the lead actor is still the same from start to finish. Especially when he's playing a robot which doesn't get any older in appearance.
