I'm going to wait until the trilogy is done until I buy anything. I'd hate to get this movie, ASM 2, and not get the third movie because it taints the series (I'm glad to have avoided that with Raimi's trilogy).

Where exactly are you all seeing these extra scenes online, depending on how they look, I could very well change my mind about leaving them out. Where can I find them? I thought the extra scenes in SM2 were horrible.

There ya go.

Thanks. :)

Okay, I've watched this scene several times, I thought you all wanted a bunch of extra action scenes or some sh--. But this is actually well directed, seriously handled and an extra scene that adds a bit to the story. Personally, if I was Sony, I'd RE-RELEASE the movie in theaters this Christmas, brag of extra scenes, and make an extra 10-20M on their domestic take. Then release it on DVD.

Are there anymore missing scenes, IN MOVIE TIME, 5 minutes is a lot of time?

Wow. That was awesome. I see why Sony might have wanted to cut that though, when they might have needed to shave time and the same sentiment DID manage to get expressed without much lost (arguably) in a much shorter way. Also, that Michelangelo quote Connors said was referred to in the first sewer scene so that might have been a bit redundant.

HOWEVER I do want to watch a version of the movie with these scenes kept in. I don't think it'd be a stretch for a few fans to create a fan-cut edit with all of the deleted scenes included when the DVD/Blu-Ray comes out like some people did with Daredevil. Maybe some people from this forum could even contribute? Sure that green CGI arm would be kinda distracting but it's better than nothing. Or the scene could be edited a bit (edit the scene where Connors gets shot to be close-up for instance) to hide it.

Either way, I'm really interested in seeing the rest of the deleted scenes.

**** sony for deleting that. Didnt really make the movie suffer but it was a very cool scene. Love the fact lizard eats people.

Throwing Ratha away after two scenes and no conclusion to his arc because he was obviously not some minor character; his first scene proves it when he immediately mentions Norman Osborn.

Tying something back to Richard Parker and how Richard never showed him any papers on the forum as Richard may have known Connors would abuse any kind of serum for his own usage.

Taking out that scene definitely made the movie suffer.

I so don't want to do that because I've been dying for at least one Spider-Man film to grace my home video collection, but I might do the same thing.

This could become a great trilogy and frankly, I like my series/franchises/trilogies in one box set when it comes to home video.

People on Youtube are saying this deleted clip is on the pre purchase Walmart disk and WONT be on the Blu ray. This can't be true, right?

Personally I think Ratha appears in ASM2 so they had to cut the entire sewer conversation. It's a pity because I MUCH prefer this to the lizard rat, lab conservation with Conners and computer which reveals the Lizard's plan on permanant loop.

If there is a Director's cut version and these scenes are cut back into the movie then it is going to be my preferred cut of the movie.

I have SM3 in my Spidey box set.
I have Blade 3 in my Blade box set.
I have Superman 3 in my Superman box set.
I have Alien3 (and 4) in my Aliens box set.

However this love doesn't extend to;
Indiana jones 4.
Superman 4.
Both movies are too bad even for a completist like me.

Man those scenes are amazing, the way Peter stalks Connors and everything

Seriously were those Sony execs dropped on their heads when they were babies?
5 min wouldnt have made such a big difference

*Sigh*

Honestly, I like SM2 more than 2.1. I like the extended fight scenes, but the extended elevator scene, Peter pulling his mask off after defeating the hijackers, and JJJ wearing the suit are too dumb for me.

Is there a link for the 'Mask Off' scene,I cant seem to find it anywhere on the net

I don't think it's a matter of time I think it's a matter of content.
If you include this 5 minute sequence you drop;
The lizard rat
The lab conversation with Conner's (after his first change)
Peter discovering the Conners computer that reveals the Lizard's plan

but having watched the sequence the scenes (to me at least) reveal two big things;
1. Ratha explains to Peter that is isn't just the spider bite in isolation that gave Peter powers (with no side effects)

2. Ratha is Dead

My guess is Sony/Webb want to use Ratha in the sequel (not possible had the deleted scene been included) and Sony/Webb want the reveal that Richard experienmented on Peter which wouldn't be a reveal because they basically call it out in this deleted scene.

It's not time, it's content.

I still don't think they're going to add the 5 minute scene to the DVD as an extra or include it in the actual film, we'll see.

I think the sequel will show the wisdom or folly of Sony with regards to these deleted scenes.

How so, how many people (general audience) actually care about these scenes that they don't even know exist?

Found a review for the 3D release.

Blu-ray review: The Amazing Spider-Man in 3D

The web-swinging superhero's stereoscopic reboot doesn't quite live up to its hyperbolic title

How soon is too soon when it comes to rebooting a popular film franchise? It’s only been five years since the release of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, but here we have a film that goes back to the beginning for the web-slinging superhero.

Of course, given how many times the character has been rebooted in print, die-hard Spidey fans shouldn’t really have that much of a problem with the idea. And for the more casual audience, there are enough new twists, plus the sparky on-screen chemistry between leads Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, to warrant a viewing. Although it is a disappointment that the film’s villain, Kurt Connors/The Lizard, has been given such short shrift by the writers. Rhys Ifans does the best he can with the role, but there’s little in the way of characterisation and motivation for him to work with. So once again we have ended up with a superhero blockbuster where an all-too-human hero must face off against a personality-free lump of CGI.

Amazing, then? Hardly. But I suppose The Adequate Spider-Man doesn’t quite have the impact the studio was hoping for.

Picture: Surprisingly, director Marc Webb has opted for a darker, almost Dark Knight-esque aesthetic for his take on Spidey. While this stylistic approach didn’t exactly meet with unanimous approval amongst the staff of this magazine, at least the Blu-ray does an solid job of realising it in your front room – at least in its 2D form.

Our real problem is that, despite all the hoopla the filmmakers made shooting the movie in 3D and what a great fit the character is for the format, this MVC 2.40:1 1080p encode does little to make itself stand out from the stereoscopic crowd. Sure, there's some interesting and convincing use of spatial depth - such as Spider-Man sitting on his web in the sewer in Chapter 12, or the obligatory Stan Lee cameo in Chapter 13 - but much of it is so dark that the 3D image frequently looks flat and dull. If you want to make the most of the clarity and detailing the encode is relly capable of, we recommend sticking with the 2D presentation.

Picture rating: 4/5

Audio: Now we're talking! The Amazing Spider-Man’s DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix offers practically everything you’d demand from a modern blockbuster. Naturally, the action scenes are dynamic and full of powerful low-end sonics, but it’s the precision of the positional effects, and their movement around the soundstage, that really brings Spidey’s world to life in your front room.

Extras: As well as the film (in 2D and 3D), the first disc in this BD set features a commentary by director Marc Webb and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, plus a pair of 3D featurettes – the six-minute 3D 101 with Director Mark Webb and the three-minute Iconic Poses and Digital Environments. The former is a beginner's guide to 3D filmmaking, with Webb chatting about the technicalities of shooting stereoscopically and the 3ality camera rig they used on the film, followed by a reel of three sequences played with varying convergence settings. Meanwhile, Iconic Poses... is a 3D progression reel showing how some visual effects elements were created in 3D, with commentary from animation supervisor David Schaub.

Moving on to the second Blu-ray platter, first up is the excellent seven-part Rites of Passage: The Amazing Spider-Man Reborn. Running a few seconds shy of 110 minutes in total, it's an in-depth look at the making of the movie and the reasoning behind rebooting the franchise.

Also included on the disc are 11 deleted and alternate scenes (17 mins), a couple of which add some much-needed characterisation to Kurt Connors, 16 pre-viz videos, three art galleries (Spider-Man, The Lizard and Environments) housing more than 200 images between them, four 'image progression reels' (High School Fight Sequence, The Lizard Emerges, Sewer Battle and a 2D presentation of Iconic Poses and Digital Environments), eight stunt rehearsal videos and a promo featurette for the tie-in videogame.

Extras rating: 4/5

We say: Not quite the 'amazing' 3D experience we had hoped for, but a pretty heroic Blu-ray package nonetheless.

Tying something back to Richard Parker and how Richard never showed him any papers on the forum as Richard may have known Connors would abuse any kind of serum for his own usage.

Taking out that scene definitely made the movie suffer.

I was overreacting before aswell but I think I've had it figured now
The scenes they cut out are

The Goal post bending scene-It was ridiculous and had to be removed

A scene with Peter skating and jumping over cars and landing on top of a Lamp post-Although they looked pretty good in the Imax trailer,it doesnt make such a big difference, probably removed to make the movie shorter

The date scene with Gwen and 2 scenes with Billy Connors

The Peter stalking Connors scene,They replace it with him figuring out Lizard's hideout by seeing Lizards entering the sewers, though the first one looked better and logical but it doesnt make such a big difference

And Sewer scene and the Lizard and the girls scene in the Bathroom was probably supposed to be included and the reason I say this is because they had completely finished and touched up CGI as we saw in the sewer scene and the comic-con footage, they probably got into trouble with the censor boards with the Lizard-eating-people-angle.They probably had to remove it a lot later and because all the other scenes were already shot and put together, they couldnt do a lot to replace it well and did a make shift scene of Peter finding the animation in the Sewer and the arc about Ratha couldnt be completed

My point is,You cant really blame Sony completely here,a rise in the censor ratings would have hurt them hence they had no choice but to remove the scenes, its more of a case of poor planning rather than limiting the director's creativity like it was the case with SM3

You can blame them for removing the Date scene and the Scenes with Billy Connors but they probably did it to make the movie shorter-It probably saved up around 15-20 minutes

No, it's a physical disc you have to get from Wal-Mart that's labeled "Amazing Spider-Man Pre Purchase", or something along those lines.

And to answer your earlier question, these scenes will also be included on the Blu-ray/DVD, and aren't exclusive to the pre purchase disc.
