Astonishing Marvel: New Imprint

I'm a bit confused about the "in-continuity" thing. Are they just going to have these comics--specifically the X-Men one--running alongside the other 616 comics and leave the drastic visual and tonal differences completely unremarked upon? I can't imagine it's going to make a lot of sense for mohawked, underboobed Storm to be ****ting it up in this series while Uncanny X-Men features a more tasteful version who has all her hair and, y'know, dresses like she actually remembers she's a f***ing foreign dignitary.

That Storm has a full head of hair(not defending the art), but yeah I'm not sure what they're trying to do costume wise for the X-Men

Why is Emma Frost so short? Why does Cyclops look ridiculously gargantuan and wearing a t-shirt? Why is Beast's head so small and his arms absurdly large? Why is Storm going back to the mohawk hair and dressing up like a skank? What is up with Armor's armor?

Well, at least they got Wolverine's height right

Tonight the role of White Queen will be performed by Li'l Kim
nah like Collosal Spoons mentioned, she's more like Coco, Ice T's wife

remember kids always wear the highest heels possible while doing squats to avoid injury.

So...these are stories that are "reader friendly", code for not in continuity, but in continuity?

How about this; find and stick with writers who know how to write stories that are rewarding to both long term and short term readers. Rediscover that quirk of comics that was lost, oh, after the year 2000.

I don't think Marvel needs another imprint right now, especially with Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the X-Men not selling as much as they used to.

If they want to be reader friendly, they'd cut prices and improve the quality of the product. $3.99 is killing retailers, warding off fans and killing a lot of comics in the cradle, and even huge sellers will soon bleed more readers than it is worth in outright sales with the extra 33%. Personally, my excitement at the new Stan Lee POW! Entertainment/ARCHIE deal of last week is that if ARCHIE actually manages to succeed in challenging the Big Two in the Top 100 with superhero comics that sell well and are priced at $2.50, that could actually spark a price war where the reader might actually win.

On the one hand, this idea sounds horrible, but on the other hand, Ellis and Aaron are good:csad:

Damn, she has Emma's fashion sense/common sesne ratio too. Emma fights crime in high heels. She just works out in it.

Alot of female heroes fight crime in heels.
still not the wisest thing. Its mildly more acceptable for those who can fly, but those who cant, I never saw the rationality in that other than looking good. Cyclops actually brings this up with Emma in the next issue of UXM as Emma struggles to climb up a mountain in heels. Im glad at least the writer gets how it makes no sense and pokes fun at it

*Reading over description*: Okay, sounds kind of weird, decent names attached to it though. Of course, X-Men and Spider-Man, who else

*Looks at pictures*: Ah..

Yeah, but this girl working out in the gym in high heels is more astonishing for me than any improbable thing heroine's choose to wear these days.

IF someone points it out, I'm glad it's Cyke.

But he seems to have his own problems with his guido black t-shirt that's two sizes too small.

That just makes it more stupid, like in-story comments about how Wonder Woman look like a hooker, or long-ass attempts to justify Power Girl's titty-window.

Yeah, "hanging a lantern" on it doesn't make it any better. If they really wanted to point out how absurd it is, they'd have her f***ing change into something more practical.

Not that good. ;)

I'll give Wolverine/Spidey a shot just because it's Aaron and Kubert.

I stopped caring about things with the word "Astonishing" in the title once Joss finished his AXM run. I'll pass. :o

Yeah, the 4 dollar price tag pretty much kills it for me. Hah, new readers, pffft.

Who wants to bet "Astonishing Deadpool" and "Astonishing Deadpool Team-up" are going to be next?

Astonishing Team-Up featuring Wolverine, Deadpool, and Spider-Man. No guest-stars, just those three, every issue.

That would actually be kinda fun as a one-shot if someone like Joe Kelly wrote it
