Comics Astonishing X-Men #14 preview

I didn't think that it was a "sexually explicit" issue at all. Most kids probably wouldn't understand that Kitty was having an orgasm. However, if people are judging Astonishing by appropriateness, I also think that MOST X-Men books wouldn't be very appropriate for children....part of why I like them is the maturity aspect.

Kitty was having an orgasm? LOL

What issues was this?

Maybe - juusstt maybe... it was the one in the title of the thread, the topic of this discussion, the one mentioned in just about every post so far  ;)

*kidding*

After finally getting my issue in the mail, it could certainly be Cyclops who destroys the Breakworld. And in the end, is Scott controlling his powers?

Sorry for the late comment.

Anyway, I really liked the fourteenth issue. I thought what Emma did was horrible, turning herself into Jean and Scott into Logan (but I thought that part was a bit funny). And I cracked myself when Kitty phased through the bedroom while having sex with Piotr. Whedon is god. I now forgive him for that line in X1. The brief moment in the kitchen was frigging hilarious. Wolverine eating and then stared at Kitty and Piotr was priceless and so awkward. :p

I hope he keeps this up. About this Breakworld, I'm thinking Kitty'll be the one who'll destroy it since Astonishing is mostly centered around Kitty. Either Kitty or Scott.

The ending certainly surprised me. Scott controlling his optic blasts? Didn't see that coming, but something smells fishy...

Can't wait for the fifteenth issue! ;)

This issue really confused the heck outta me! But i'm glad i'm not alone in this. I think Emma is doing this for Scott's own good and I don't think he was lobotomized. She really loves him and I think there is something going on here that only Mr Whedon knows the answer too.

PS. "Bout time" <------hilarious!

^But as with all of Cylcop's relationships, love just doesn't seem to be enough.

Its just another chapter in the Summers soap opera. Minus the superpowers, Cyclops's life is like watching daytime TV. And I like it.

Let's see...

Scott marries Jean
Jean dies
Scott marries Jean's twin, Maddy
Jean comes back with amnesia
Maddy starts dating Scott's brother, then dies
Scott marries Jean
Scott cheats on Jean with Emma
Jean dies, Scott dates Emma
Scott's children and friends are pissed
And everybody's F'ing the school nurse.

You're right. It is a soap opera. No wonder I tune in religiously, and talk with my friends as if the characters are real people.

Don't forget the whole "does she like me?", "does he like me?", "we can't be together because of [fill in the blank]" that went on for the majority of the first 100 issues. And there was also Scott's marriage proposal...which she shot down. Then, way later, and after Jean finally accepts her daughter from the future, she asks him to marry her.

wow. now its lookin like scott really will destroy breakworld. didn't expect that.

Does anyone think that Scott may be able to control his powers now? Like permanently? (Or at least as long as Whedon is writing?)

I don't think its going to be a permanent thing, we don't even know yet if Scott is going to be able to even talk (cause in the final page it looks like he is in some sort of a coma or in some sort of ******ness, if that is even a word), in the case that he can control his powers and still keeps his mental sanity it can't be for to long, cause the cyclops trademark is his visor or glasses that he wears all the time, making him one of the most recognizible x caracters :cyclops: ¡long live Cyclops!

If they give Cyclops control of his powers, more than likely the editors are going to pull a "Walking Xavier" on us later on. What's a Walking Xavier? It's one of those instances when Professor X is given back use of his legs, only for them to be taken away. It's happened, like, 3 or 4 times in the past.

Thats whats gonna happen

Cyclops: "At last! I've gotten over my psychological issues, and am finally able to control my optic blasts without the aid of my visor!"
*BONK*
Cyclops: "F#%&, now I really do have brain damage."

There actually was an issue of X-Men where Scott regained control of his powers.

It was X-Men Annual '97

It was an issue where some of the X-Men where given there fondest desires but the catch was they had to unknowingly remove Jean Grey from they're lives.

Cyke walks out in one scene and he's visorless, his eyes are pulsating with red energy, kind of like superman, it was actually pretty cool.

I could buy him without the visor, at least for a while, it is a pretty cool look regardless.

Even if he gains control over his powers, he could still use the visor to focus and adjust them.

If he didn't, it would be stupid to call him Cyclops.

His eyes should remain glowing if he has gained control of his power. But like the man said - keep the visor for combat.
