They really shouldn't worry about the rating.

That's where Cameron comes in handy. He knows how to market the hell out of a film.

And did any of you read the article I posted?

It's got alot of ATMOM goodies in it .

"From the director of Avatar... which should appeal to the same demographic for this R rated horror film."

I really hope Universal greenlight this movie soon, especially if they're planning to shoot this around June or July. Cruise is a good actor but I'm having a hard time picturing him for role in this movie but I trust del Toro's choices for the actors so if he choose Cruise then it's fine for me.

I'm kind of surprised that Tom Cruise would do this movie. You'd think that the Cthulhu mythos would hit a bit too close to home for him, since he himself is part of a batsh** insane alien cult.

:lmao:

it will be the most expensive horror movie ever made. i hope they cast the best actor for the part.

i dont want GDT in 2021 see crying how he made mistakes with this movie. this is your only chance with an expensive movie with full control. use it. make everything perfect.

I wonder is Tom thinks he's signed on to a historically accurate film? :woot:

The dude is proud of everything he's made regardless of box office performance. Believe it or not, there's some directors out there still interested in film making as an art.

what has my post to do with box office? i am talking about the budget. he can make a horror movie where he can show everything and scare us with everything. this is hollywood history.

is an expensive movie not about art?

I thought you meant, that this movie would flop because of it's budget and GDT would be making excuses for the rest of his life.

is an expensive movie not about art?

Of course it is. If a film maker feels the need to make a movie because they believe in it and not just for money, then they're treating it like an art. I'm as lenient to this concept as anyone. I would argue that Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal treated Predators like an art because they love the mythology so much and they wanted to add their own chapter to the story. Sure it's just a cheesy action film, but it's a labour of love.

There's a certain other film I know that started out as a really, really, good story but then got dumbed down to the point of utter mediocrity as an excuse to show off pretty colours and make some dough.

"Now that I can't abide"

Cruise is still a draw depending on the source material, and honestly without an A-lister this story won't be a box office smash, as much of a literary classic and cult icon it may be. The mainstream is what counts in that sense.

Cruise? F**K! Not him! He cant act anymore!
Suddenly my hype for this film drowns in vomit.

Tom Cruise was the only actor I could see in the lead role when I read the leaked script for the film. I hope he signs on.

despite his crazy beliefs, i like Cruise and the guy is a great actor. it's a shame there are people out there who fail to overlook that.

I normally don't like to see any religion bashed...but....LOL!!!!
That one made me laugh.

I don't think there's anyway they will make the movie without those action sequences.

Just saying that's the reality of filmmaking. Look at Watchmen? They stuck in all those borderline pornographic martial arts and fight scenes that were never in the comics in order to appease the male adolescent crowd.

actually i think thats just what Snyder likes. I mean most adolescents couldn't even get in the theater to see the movie.

Problem is if he takes on this moive all the marketing is gonna focus on HIM and the last thing I want to see and think about when looking at a Lovecraft movie poster - is his stupid *****ebag smirk.

Considering it's a horror movie where the characters are driven to the brink of insanity, I doubt he'll do much smirking in the promotional material.

I doubt his face will be on it at all. I foresee a poster where human figures are silhouettes against some sort of arcane mountainscape or structures. If his face is on it at all, it'll be Drew Sruzan style, because Cruise is not the point of the film. Hell, a poster similar to the one for the Thing would be freakin great as well.

I'd love to see Cruise's face but as a design as the language of the wall in the ice city or whatever it was. Some distorted design.

Cruise puts his all in most of his roles, even that Knight and Day thing, so I don't have any doubts he'll do what he needs to. Hell, he's doing his own stunts for the fourth Impossible flick, so I can't hate.

Cruise has become a great actor. He's gotten crazier but hey, who cares as long as he delivers onscreen.

His recent acting is WAY better than anything he did back in his glory years in the 80's.

Fact is though, I trust in GDT. If he wants cruise then i'm on board for him too.

GDT's description of the Shoggoth sounds AMAZING. It's spot on. As does his descriptions of the Elder Things.

I can't WAIT for this movie.

And out of any other Lovecraft works I'd like to see, is a 100% faithful adaptation of Shadow Over Innsmouth, my favorite(along with Call of Cthulhu).

Dagon came REALLY close, but took way too many liberties.

A 100% faithful movie adaptation of TSOI is possible, AND would be a good, scary movie.
