Having just read the script, There is an exponential amount of gore added to the story. Things are gonna have to be rewritten. And believe it or not, the descriptions of the Shoggoths alone, would land this thing an R rating.

They assimilate creatures similar to Carpenter's The Thing and the arbitrarily grow mouths, teeth and other extremities in a rather gruesome fashion.
