It's almost as if some prophecy of epicness is being fulfilled here, the way the pieces keep falling together ::wipes tear from eye::

Yeah, I'm not much of a Cameron fan. The moies of his I like are Aliens and the first Terminator. I don't care for the Abyss or T2, I hated Titanic, and I haven't seen, and have no interest in seeing Avatar.

Cameron and Del Toro have been close friends for twenty years. They have a lot of history together. It makes perfect sense for the two to collaborate.

Supposedly, Del Toro put a few Elder things in Hellboy 2. So in Del Toro's films, The Cthulhu and Hellboy mythos share the same universe....sweet :word:

Obviously, hes been a huge fan of the books for a while

I think the Elder Things in the middle of a market place was more of gag than a serious connection between the HB films and At the Mountains of Madness.

If anything the biggest HP nod was the alien tentacle god in the first film. The fact that it was an age old/elder god and was trapped in ice in that other dimension is straight up Lovecraft.

the hellboy comics have a very blatant lovcraft influence along with poe and hans christian anderson. Mignola is quite well read.

Very true. I have the Hellboy tpbs 1-8 and when I first started reading them after having seen the first movie I was pleasantly surprised at all the influences of past stories and fables he used. I really liked how he had Baba-Yaga in a story or two as well.

since Cameron is hated because hes movie made a lot of money this will hurt . right?

On producing At the Mountains of Madness for Guillermo del Toro:
Cameron and del Toro have been friends for a while, and Cameron asked if GdT was still thinking of doing Mountains. When del Toro displayed enthusiasm for the project, Cameron asked, “why don’t we make it? That conversation led to…let’s go talk to Universal. So we went over there, pitched it with me producing on a fast track, so hopefully we’ll be going second quarter next year. And in 3D!”

Actually Cameron is hated because his movie was epically boring derivative crap. I don't see people hating on Christopher Nolan and Jon Favreau.

I'm glad he's using his power for good rather than evil.

go back to the 80's and come back.

and if you have common sense you will understand that Nolan's and Favraue's time will come. when both of them will be in the industry for more then 20 years they will also be called hacks and fans wil l complain about their movies how they were done only for money and how they were boring.

it happened with all the big directors who made expensive movie. and it will happen again.

is it fact? no. its common sense. :awesome:

Or maybe Cameron should have made a movie that was actually as good as his Terminator to True Lies period instead of Dances with Smurfs, then no one would be complaining. I don't see people hating on Ridley Scott, even if they didn't like his last couple of films.

If Nolan goes down that path than he'll deserve all the hate, but if he keeps to telling good stories, then he wont.

good rather evil?

they are friends forr 10 years if not 20 years.

Anyone who actually hates the guy needs to either grow up or go have their head looked at. How *****ing stupid.

Relax, nobody hates James Cameron. Some of us just aren't fans of some of his work.

Don't tell me to relax, I'm not one of these guys who goes into histrionics every time the success of Avatar is brought up.

yeah i prefer his work in the 80s and early 90s. titanic and avatar were good, but i don't think they were the second coming of heath ledger people made them out to be.

You guys must have missed the memo. On the internet its cool to hate James Cameron :awesome:

Isn't ATMOM the story where they get pursued by shoggoths as they flee the ruined city?? A scene like this would be one of the absolute best moments on film!

From what I remember, that's the one. I can't wait to see them discovering the city and walking around looking at everything. Hopefully Del Toro brings it for this project, which i'm sure he will.

That's sick. Man, 2012 is going to be another great year of movies. And to think last year there wasn't anything noteworthy coming out except Avengers.
