For the monsters, I hope GDT will rely more on puppetry, rather than cgi, special effects.

That's sick. Man, 2012 is going to be another great year of movies. And to think last year there wasn't anything noteworthy coming out except Avengers.
The Avengers
At the Mountains of Madness
Spider-Man Reboot
Batman 3
Superman Reboot(?)
Godzilla Remake
The Hobbit: Part I(?)

Good year, indeed.

Between Batman3, Superman and At the Mountains of Madness, I don't know which one I'm most excited to see.

^Granted, it might be. I'll hardly be crushed if they're all cgi, but if they can do them justice with puppetry and animatronics, it would be just that much sweeter.

I should specify I was thinking of Cthulhu and the Elder Things. The Shoggoth almost certainly should and will be completely cgi.

Going to be difficult making a puppet cthulhu:o

Or is it?

:awesome:

LOL!

I'm not familiar with the world much, but if there are smaller creatures I could see them working in puppetry like many of the creatures in Hellboy 2. GDT is such a master:up:

I'm sure there will be puppets a plenty. Cthulhu will probably be CG, though. Del Toro loves his puppets however he's not against the use of CG when it's the most practical solution.

Yeah I remember him saying he was going to use far more practical/puppetry for the creatures in Hobbit than Jackson did in his trilogy. But alas, no cigar.

This has probably already been brought up but, I hope the atmosphere to the movie is silmilar to At The Mouth of Madness or Event Horizon. Not too many monster moments in the latter, but its this overwhelming sense of dread and hopelessnes in both movies that got to me and worked really well.

It's been a good while since I have read the stories so forgive me... is Cthulhu in ATMOM? I didn't think he was... or is it just that he was depicted in the heiroglyphs the team read as they explored the city?

Don't forget Star Trek 2. :awesome:

^2012 is going to be awesome. Also John Carter (my most anticipated film behind Batman 3). At least if the world ends in 2012 we'll have at least one more awesome summer. :word:

Nah, just cool to hate on crappy movies.
B-but you have an expendables avatar.

Are those trailers not enough? Sometimes you can see a bad movie coming from a mile away but maybe I'm wrong and it'll be a very enjoyable action film. Although I highly doubt it.

Anyways, I wonder if this movie will be shot in 3D. That might be pretty cool.

I seriously can't believe this... i mean, it's like the most awesome thing ever!!

Hieroglyphics on the city walls tell of a struggle between Cthulhu and the Elder Things. They're probably going to film the story as it is being narrated.

Holy crap, that's going to be quite a year for genre movies. :wow:

I thought this would be a cool design for the Elder Things.
