hey guys, i've got a problem with my speakers that i need help with. if anyone else has any other audio problems as well please feel free to post here.
anyway, my problem is that the speakers that i currently have aren't working with my PS3 (or HDMI). i have a Bose Companion 3. here's what they look like...
...it sounds so great when it works but it won't work with my PS3 for some reason. they're the kind of speakers with a plug that look like headphone jacks. they're primarily made for computers i guess, but i was able to hook them up straight to my previous tv because it had an option to plug in headphones.
well now i have a 32' in JVC HDTV and it doesn't have any place to plug my headphones in. i used the HDMI and i can see the picture just fine, i can also hear the sound coming from my tv just fine. however, i bought an A/V (red and white) converter for headphone jacks and tried hooking it up to my HDTV. well, i was able to hear my speakers working, but only when i switched to Video 3 where my xbox360 was hooked up with no HDMI. so i know that it's not the tv that's messed up, i checked my PS3 settings to make sure everything was set properly but the only way i could get sound (even from the tv) was when the audio was set to HDMI.
i figured maybe i need to get a receiver, so i went out today and bought a Sony receiver that accepts HDMI, along with another HDMI cable. i hooked up my PS3's HDMI directly into the receiver (input) and the other HDMI cable goes from my receiver to my tv (output). i then took the headphone type plug for my Bose speakers and plugged them into the reciever. i still get nothing from my PS3 even though the xbox360 outputs sound just fine through my receiver.
i know it's sort of hard to follow, but if anyone is willing to help or offer advice then i'd really appreciate it. thanks.
edit: nevermind, found a way to make it work...hehe
