I know this is probably a stupid question but I always wondered the gas The Joker sends through the vents before he enters the museum, did it just knock out the people or did it kill them?

Probably just knocked them out.
I like Batman and all, but that scene was so goofy. :down

It was purple, right? The (lethal)smylex gas used toward the end of the film was green, I remember that. I'd say it was just some type of sleeping agent, otherwise it would've been green.

He killed them. It was just made in a way so they could secure the PG-13 rating.

"Starting tonight, people will die.....with Smilex."

Gotta disagree with the masses, I loved the museum scene. Joker destroying priceless paintings was great. He's not just a homicidal nut, he's an artistic nut.

I make art until someone dies

Hold it! I kinda like this one, Bob! Leave it!

:joker:

"Ahhh, now THAT'S good work! The skulls, the bodies... you give it all such a glow. I don't know if it's art, but I like it!"

scene was awsome, depsite the prince music, which i thought actually fit the scene. and yes, joker killed those ppl. that scene is actually kinda creepy to watch, ppl fallin over everything, into there food, just whoa. then joker all gleefully says GENTLEMAN, LETS BROADEN OUT MINDS! and starts dancin around the dead bodies messin up famous paintings. crazy bastard, cracks me up. love that joker!

oh yeah, i dont know if anyone else ever found this funny, but i love when joker is in vicky's apartment and he is talkin all like poetic, and a summers place is playing in the background on that boom box, and then after hes done talkin all nice he just flicks off the radio like hes thinkin "ok thats enough cheesy music" LOL, i always found that part funny.

The World's first fully functional homicidal artist.

He makes art .... till someone dies.

this is my favorite scene in Batman. and yes, joker killed all those people

I also think he killed them. And then he allowed himself to be darkly funny as the Joker he is. Dancing Prince is weird, dancing Prince amongst dead people...

"Where does he get those wonderful toys" was my favorite line in the whole movie

The museum scene is my favorite part of the whole movie, closely followed by the parade scene. Say what you will, but Prince's music fit those scenes perfectly.

Did the gas kill them in the parade scene? Then it killed them at the museum. He was adding his homicidal artwork to the museum.

The gas at the parade was his smilex gas, so that definitely killed them. Even Vicki Vale said "Smilex gas.....He's going to kill everybody".

I think the gas at the mueseum was just knockout gas. Nobody seemed to fall with a smile.

The Joker in that movie never hesitated in the slightest bit to kill anyone. Why would he at the museum?

I find it so funny how the people fell flat down on their food, some lady mashed her face on a hamburger I seem to remember.
