BABYLON 5 REMASTERED: A Retrospective and Rewatch Thread!

I haven't read through this entire thing but has anyone commented on how over half the main cast is now dead? I realized it yesterday talking about watching the series again how so many have died and many of them were not that old.

Babylon 5 to return with a secret project featuring original cast | Space

I recently decided to re-watch the series (seen it all twice before) so pulled out my DVDs. To my surprise, for reasons I can't fully put my finger on, not one of my season one discs would play on any of the three different DVD players I tried them in. I remember reading somewhere over the years that others were having trouble with their old DVDs of the series. I have no proof, but others speculated that the earlier printings were defective in some way. Since my season one discs were toast I have to assume that the others could go bye bye some time soon too. So.....I checked AMAZON, and found the entire series on sale. In one set I got the 5 seasons of the main series in new clamshell packaging (a lot better than the original cardboard fold out disc holders), and separate clamshell packaging for the 5 B5 movies produced during it's run and the one season CRUSADE spinoff series. I plan on starting re-watching everything today starting with the B5 movie THE GATHERING.

Congrats! The reason it is on sale is because they are releasing the new HBO Max hi def transfer on Blu-ray next month.

They redid it from scratch and restored the series to its original 4:3 aspect ratio and have AI upscaled the effects shots. It looks way, way better than the old widescreen DVDs. Hopefully, they will do a DVD release of the new version down the road for you as well.
