Bad guys that you wished would have gotten away with it

Glad to know I'm not the only fan that film has. A truly under rated gem.

I remember it being one of the first DVD's I bought once I finally got a player years ago. I watched that film constantly.

Yes, she is a protagonist of the story, that in no way means she as a character can't be considered a villain. She absolutely has slaves, or at the very least had them even if she doesn't currently.

Landa and Silva were villains of The Basterd's and James Bond's stories, but imagine if the stories were told from their point of view -the Basterds and Bond suddenly become the villains. No one thinks of themselves as the bad guy. Silva consider M the villain and himself the hero. With characters like Dany it's all about perspective. Dany has and intends on doing some pretty stuff, she's not the audiences villain, but she's definitely someone's.

I agree with your point about perspective, but Dany does not nor did she own slaves. Her views on slavery are very clear in the books and even spends most of the third book going from city to city demanding the slaves to be freed.

I get it just fine. You're saying everyones a villain to someone else from their point of view. I agree with that. Just not at all about Dany.
Robert Baratheon thought so. Considered her a threat to his reign and tried to have her killed in the first book. And whomever sits on the Iron Throne (or is in league with them) will consider her an enemy/villain/antagonist as she continues her quest to reclaim the throne. Then there's all the rulers of the cities she lays siege to while building her army and freeing slaves.

I love the character, but there are plenty of people within the story who would consider her a villain.

Not the least of which being the people of Westeros who she intends to conquer as her ancestor did.

I watch it every Halloween. I find it walks the line damn near perfectly between being a horror film and a thriller. And I love that it doesn't need to get bogged down with the gross stuff.

I've only read the first book, but I was focusing on the TV series. Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I was fairly sure Dany inherited Drogo's slave girls after he died? In any case, slaves or not slaves she is certainly the villain in a few people's eyes, as you went on to discuss...

Only read the first book? Apologies if I spoiled anything.

Whatever slaves Drogo had were either taken by the blood brothers who abandoned Dany after he died, or were freed by Dany upon his death. Everyone who stayed with Dany did so out of loyalty to her, not by force or slavery.

Nothing is spoiled, it's all good. I'd be pretty silly to discuss Game of Thrones on the internet and get mad if someone spoiled it anyway :D

Regarding the slaves, I stand corrected (well...sit on the couch, but I concede regardless of position)

Haha right on. You should definitely read the other books if you haven't started already. They get really good (though I'm not too fond of the fourth book).

Good pitch:up:
You should be a screenwriter, dude. Maybe you are:woot:

You've got me. Shane Black here!

Jokes, I just unofficially got accepted into film school. I'm procrastinating on the paperwork right as I type this.

LOL,,, the stormtroopers had they won could have used the ewoks as a food source..

Well the ewoks weren't above eating humans so I suppose they were fair game.
