Banned users- Part 7

I have often wondered what those "lounge" threads, which I meticulously avoid, look like.

I suppose much like this?
Nope, they are even more nonsensical than this.

I remember one member said something making it sound official, he said it's something he made up on the same page or one page later, and a mod gave him probationary ban for that

I don't know the particulars of the one you are talking about, there are several factors....were they a regular member with a history of posting without problems? or did they just come on, get a name, to make the claims? I don't know the discussion among the admins and mods in that that particular situation. But, as the FAQ states, it is discretionary.

In this particular case, after discussion among admins and mods, the decision was made.

Each situation is different, which is why we discuss before we make a decision in cases like this.

You can't be black and white on things that you agree with, and gray on things that you don't or vice versa. Without having all of the information and being a part of the discussion, its kind of hard to speak of what was right or wrong.

So what if the poster just created the account to spout off fake spoilers and insider info?

I couldn't say without a discussion with the mods of that particular forum, admins, etc...

Ban everyone in the batboards. That'll fix it.

Bat boards AND Spidey boards AND anyone who posts in the Celebrity board's Jennifer Lawrence thread (cough*sjh*cough) :o

But the person in question was in the GoTG boards?

Well you can see it, but can't discuss it.

A regular member, made that mistake just one time
I don't remember if he even said the name of an official member of the crew in that movie

This is not a thread to b**** about who you don't like, so move on from that conversation.

Haha, Kelly's User Title is [blackout]wishful thinking[/blackout].

A while back one of the admin's made a huge ass rant about it and that if you're screwing around with that, you shouldn't be surprised if you log in to find you've actually been given a probationary ban.

Also a bit of a power abuse, no? I mean the sensor is there for a reason and bypassing the forum censors IS a bannable offence, which you are clearly doing. Just saying - bit of a double standard.

Um, the word banned, is not a censored word....so, no I'm not bypassing the censors.

I don't know the specific incident you are talking about, but no we have nothing in our FAQs that talks about that specifically or otherwise, I would venture to say the person was probably doing more than just hanging around with it in their title.

Sure it wasn't you? You seem to have a very personal bit of trauma about this....lol

I changed it to make a point a while back that really it is not that big of a deal, and people shouldn't go crazy when someone has it as their title and start freaking out that they've been banned because it is very simple to do. I simply forgot about it...

Power abuse???? seriously?

We have a buzzkill alert.

We can use "banned user" as a custom title now? I could have sworn it was censored.

Are you attempting to use ad hominem to belittle me in using a valid argument to expose a double standard?

Instead of making an redundant point, shouldn't you have said "Bypassing the filter may result in either a warning or automatic probation. Repeated violations of this rule may result in account banning." instead?
Power abuse???? seriously?
Well yeah, acting asinine and getting hoity toity when someone raises a valid question about it can be power abuse. I'm going to drop this now because you're clearly avoiding civil discourse with your poor attempt at ad hominem and then using a "lol" to brush it off - quite passive aggressive.

Good day to you, madame.

You should probably wipe your nose.

Good lord have mercy, it is time for you to get some sleep. :cwink:
