Barbara Broccoli says Craig is the best Bond

Broccoli backs Craig
'Casino Royale' producer Barbara Broccoli has claimed that new 007 thesp Daniel Craig will be the "best Bond ever".
Broccoli's comments come after months of criticism have been piled on Craig by ardent Bond fans, many of whom claim that he is ill-suited to the famous role and will cause the upcoming film 'Casino Royale' to crash at the box office.
However, despite the bitter niggling of his detractors and former Bond actor Pierce Brosnan's refusal to let go of the role, Craig has constantly reiterated his dedication to reinventing 007, a move which is backed by Broccoli.
She told British movie magazine Hotdog of Craig, "He's the best Bond ever.
"He's such a superb actor. He's incredibly sexy, he's very charismatic, he has enormous screen presence and when he takes on a role he completely inhabits the character, and in this case he did everything.
"He's phenomenal. I think audiences will really embrace him".

Well I'm a straight hetrosexual guy so I can't speak for the ladies, but I can't imagine this guy is that sexy:

Sexy (in a Bond context)? Craig looks like a retired boxer.

But that said, most women/girls I've talked to find Craig pretty attractive and like him as Bond (sure, it's not exactly a scientific sampling, but that's been my personal experience). Overall, I've met very few people who aren't sold on the idea of Craig as Bond, especially at this point.

The same fate as SUPERMAN RETURNS? You mean nearly $200 million dollars in domestic box-office alone? For CASINO ROYALE, that would be a megahit the size of which Bond hasn't seen the likes of in a long time. And actually, I'd say that once you delve into the core fanbase for Bond, you'll find an overwhelming support for CASINO ROYALE and Daniel Craig.

That said, yes, CASINO ROYALE's ultimate fate is still up in the air. I'd say things are looking pretty good, though.

I'm gonna give Craig the benefit of the doubt. I don't think the new Bond will break $300 million world wide, but for Barbara Broccoli's sake, I hope it does well enough because if it doesn't, she'll look like an idiot.

doesn't matter if he's the best bond in terms of screen presence, etc.

he doesn't look like the bond i've been accustomed to or accepted, so that alone already impedes him from receiving the GOAT title.

My one roblem is that he looks like a veteran agent not a new young one. i would have liked a younger person for the role. But I will go see it with an open mind because it is Bond....James Bond

Best Bond ever? Oh please. . .Sounds like a "panicky" comment to me. While Craig might have potential he hasn't earned the title of "Best Bond ever". Connery #1, Brosnan (a very close #2 next to Connery) and even Moore are the greatest.

I do however have issues with his appearance and a few other details, and I don't have a good feeling about him playing Bond. Y'know she and her step brother say that about every actor and every film within release. It's just puff pieces. But it is encouraging that he he seems to be growing on people and the movie looks so damned good.

For the record I remember them saying TWINE was the best Bond movie yet, and while I indeed thought it was a pretty good Bond movie flick (though I know some would disagree) I think we can all safely agree that it was nowhere near the best in the series though.
