She'd be a great pick. Haven't seen her in True Grit, but just going off of Begin Again alone when she plays Mark Ruffalo's daughter, she's not just got plenty of range, but experience in playing a character still being where, despite being younger than the guardian, she knows a lot more than one would give her credit AND that father figure helps unlock her potential.

Then again, it could depend on where in Barbara's journey this version would be. Or, I guess, what kind of casting WB or Whedon wants. But Steinfeld would be great.

I want everyone to be recast.

JK's Gordon was a disappointment. As was Irons' Alfred.

I didn't realize just how lucky we were with Oldman and Caine until Justice League.

Honestly, I was never 100% on board with Oldman's Gordon. I always felt it was an odd take on the character. Gordon is supposed to be tough as nails, by-the-book, and authoritative. Oldman's version felt more like the Winston Smith to Gotham's 1984... the last gasp of resistance in a wholly corrupt world. It was an interesting take on the character but I want the next Gordon (or Simmons if he continues) to convey more strength.

I think Irons' Alfred was fine. He was already witty and caring in a few places. A much better script will do him more justice.

Based on your text, though- Sophie Turner? Jessica Chastain? Jennifer Lawrence?
If so- I agree, hope not. Despite the success of Chris Evans being Johnny Storm and then Steve Rogers, I’d prefer that Barbara not be played by an actress associated with another comic book character.

There are many terrific actresses who could be a great Barbara/Batgirl without the casting news feeling a little less exciting due to the been-there/seen-that feel of having been in another superhero franchise.

Yeah. I'm all for recasts for the sake of giving new filmmakers a clean slate from some crappy stuff that's come before them, but let's not go overboard.

Simmons was in no way a disappointment. Saying he was is like saying Billy Dee Williams was a disappointment in B89. Each barely had a real role in the films they starred in. They weren't given anything with any meat to it. So however you feel about this or that, it's not really on them.

Now, with Irons, there's a bit more to judge there. He was given more material to work with than being given a report by one of his subordinates and talk to Batman on a rooftop.
