Barbara Gordon Casting Thread

I just feel like they’re trying to put the cart before the horse. Why not try and make a good Batman movie again before spinning off his supporting cast?

Batman
Batman Returns
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Rises

That's six good Batman movies. I'm ready for something new, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

And no, I don't want to have to wait until Warner Bros finally manage to "get their main players right". What if that never happens?

Saying that Batgirl would be something new is like saying bread and jam is completely different to bread on its own.

Batgirl herself is connected to Batman in a pretty big way (seeing as she's, you know, the daughter of who is more or less Batman's best friend). Before you introduce the jam, you gotta get the bread right first. It's kinda that simple.

Well, we do already have a Jim Gordon and that's all that matters. If they can make a Supergirl series without Superman then they sure as heck can make a Batgirl movie without Batman.

A Jim Gordon who I'm fairly sure very few people actually cared about in JL. You can do a Batgirl movie without Batman, I'm not denying that. But you'd be better off introducing her in a Batman movie and then having the Batgirl movie follow. That way, you don't have to worry too much about the general audience not knowing who the hell Batgirl is (outside of Batman and Robin, which is...well, Batman and Robin)

Emma Stone or Britt Robertson would be my picks for Barbara Gordon

Britt Robertson would be ideal for a Batgirl TV series that gets canceled after 4 episodes.

That's kind of her thing.

Any Santa Clarita Diet fans out there? How about Liv Hewson for Barbara Gordon?

However, if you want to go older than probably Emma Stone is the best pick but then if you go younger then either Jane Levy or Rachel Hurd Wood

Olivia Cooke would make sense too if you go with a younger Barbara but I can see DC going a little older in the sense of her being in her late 20s going early 30s if anything

Ohhh I love me some Olivia Cooke. She'd be a great pick.

With Batgirl the apparent co-lead with Harley Quinn in the Birds of Prey film, which is said to lead into Batgirl’s solo movie (and yeah, I know lots of stuff gets announced/leaked- but this feels real), I’m looking at Margot Robbie’s influence as a producer on BoP (she wanted a female writer- Hodson, check. She wanted a female director- Yan, check), and I’m thinking that Saoirse Ronan, a good friend of Robbie’s (just search ‘Saoirse Ronan Margot Robbie friends’), is a pretty solid bet right now for the role of Barbara.

Ronan is a damn good accuser actress, but I don't think she looks the part. There are better choices for the role.

Yeah, it would be a coup... a coup de grace to my interest in the movie. :o

The DCEU would be lucky to have an actress as talented as Ronan.

I think Barbara Gordon should be introduced in a Batman film, being inspired by Batman's actions. Maybe in a mid or post credits scene we could see her going all 'Michelle Pfeiffer', rushing home and sewing together a Batgirl outfit.

If they can do anything as brilliant as the Catwoman creation scene in BR then that already guarantees my ticket being bought.
