Just a small observation... but for those who might be a bit unhappy with the idea of Barbara Gordon being African American... but are okay with the large changes made to the characterisation of The Joker in the Todd Phillips movie... they may want to reflect on those positions a little bit.

I get this is a Babs thread, but real quick on the Todd Phillips Joker: I know it's getting award buzz and is probably a fascinating film but I kind of wish they had just created a new character and not used Joker. Made it a WB film and not a DC film for that exact reason. He's not really the Joker.

Ah yes, that movie where an 11 year old has to watch her father burn to death in front of her.

100% a comedy, deeeeeeeeeefinitely.

The point is the tone of the movie is kind of zany and over the top, where in the reality of the movie a 10 year old or whatever she supposed to be in the movie can fight grown men with guns and it doesn’t seem off. In a presumably hyper-realistic/grounded setting that Matt Reeves May go for, that wouldn't really work and would feel out of place.

I think of that more as a direct elseworlds story. When I saw Zazie Beetz in the trailer I kinda wanted her to be his Harley. But I also prefer looser structures for villain stories. I don't think there's a ton to reflect on there.

I do have to laugh that the (i'm sure...unintentional) long standing changes of red heads being race bent into African Americans continues. Black Widow is the only red head to survive...though depending on who talk to...ScarJo can play any race lol.

Miller is looking fine indeed. I'm rooting hard for her because of the Reeves' connection (Reeves likes her Twitter account), delivering tons of emotion in War while playing a silent character and having the right age of 15. Dick and Barbs should be about the same age IMO. Otherwise, my alternative choice is Sophia Lillis. A big no to 20-ish actresses for Babs.
