Barbarella comes again...

I'm all for unknowns as well. Erica Durance should take a shot at it, but then again that's rumorville territory.

i think that ship has sailed... and gained weight.

actually she looked very thin (almost too thin) in that jimmie fallon movie... the one about baseball. fever pitch, was it?

but either way, bad choice.

Barrymore's name has been floating around this film's name forever, but that's been going on almost 6 years now.

According to the Czech Premiere, (lovely;)) Sienna Miller (Casanova, Stardust) is in negotiations to the star in the remake of Barbarella.

Billie Piper comes to mind as well.

interesting considering her character was compared to barbarella in doctor who. She is also playing a hooker in her latest role and can do sexy

other than that i would go with sienna miller although she's done the whole psychedelic vibe with 'factory girl'

Good God. The studios can't get a Flash or Wonder Woman movie off the f**king ground but they greenlight crap like Barbarella and prequels to the Dukes of Hazzard. Hollywood needs to pull its head out of its ass.

Hollywood is fast food for the masses, the good projects are rare-which is why they can mean so much to a few.

It's like the old joke about taking snake home, and then it bites you...and the snakes all...hey you knew I was a snake

Barbarella did suck, by the time I finally found one on DVD...I wished I hadn't wasted the time...when your 13 sure, it's great 'starter porn' past that please.

If it must be remade-Give it to Ali Larter.

Halle Berry is Barbarella?
IGN gets to the bottom of it.

July 11, 2007 - The biggest question facing director Robert Rodriguez's remake of Barbarella is who will play the title role. Casting rumors have included the likes of Kate Beckinsale, who denied it, to Rose McGowan, Rodriguez's Planet Terror starlet and off-screen squeeze. Then a rumor stormed online today claiming that a certain Oscar-winning actress had been cast.

According to EntertainmentWise.com, Halle Berry will play Barbarella. (Barbarella is being scripted by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the writers of Die Another Day, which co-starred Berry.)

Alas, it's untrue. IGN inquired with Berry's reps at ICM -- as well as with sources close to the production who wished to remain nameless -- both of whom denied it.

And while Halle is still smokin' hot, she is turning 41 next month and is a tad long in the tooth for the character of Barbarella.

I used to have a big crush on the younger Jane Fonda after watching the original Barbarella I couldn't MB over her enough when I was a kid.:o :D

41 and smokin' hot. That broadens the choices for WW casting, eh?

When it was announced a few months back that Robert Rodriguez would be directing a remake of the cheeky sci-fi flick BARBARELLA, it prompted immediate speculation as to who he'd cast as his space-faring clothes-shedding adventuress. One of the names often suggested for the role was Rose McGowan, GRINDHOUSE's one-legged warrior-stripper... and Rodriguez's latest squeeze.

According to a JoBlo scooper we'll call 'Zeiss', there may be some truth to that. It seems that Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios are gearing up for production, and have already done some FX test footage, with McGowan standing in as the titular intergalactic vixen.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean McGowan is locked for the part -- she could have just been conveniently available for Rodriguez to use as his "model". Or perhaps he'll use the footage as a convincer for Universal and producer Dino De Laurentiis to cast someone of McGowan's relatively low star wattage in such a major film role.

Either way, the movie will likely start shooting before the end of the year, so we'll soon find out who will replace Jane Fonda as the frisky deep space agent.

Maybe they'll do it Beowulf style and just have McGowan do some mo-cap. :p

McGowan might be in the movie but I don't think as Barbarella. Maybe she's the villain.
