Variety said:
Robert Rodriguez will helm the "Barbarella" redo for a 2008 Universal release.

The "Planet Terror" helmer is working with scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade on the remake of the 1968 film starring Jane Fonda as a futuristic mercenary. That version was produced by Dino De Laurentiis, who is producing the remake with Martha De Laurentiis.

Barbarella first appeared seven years earlier in a French comicbook written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest. De Laurentiis recently completed an acquisition deal with his son Julien (Daily Variety, April 12).

"I love this iconic character and all that she represents, and I'm truly excited by the challenge of inviting a new audience into her universe," Rodriguez said.

Dino De Laurentiis hinted at the flavor of the remake: "In our vision, the future is female, and I can't wait to introduce 'Barbarella' to a new generation of moviegoers," he said.

Purvis and Wade co-wrote "Casino Royale" and recently finished scripting the next installment in the Bond franchise, "Bond 22."

sweet. now all we have to do is wait until it's leaked on the net, hehe...

Paul Haggis Returning for Bond 22
Source: Los Angeles Times
May 23, 2007

The Los Angeles Times reports that Paul Haggis, the Oscar-winning writer-director of Crash and co-writer of Casino Royale, will return to work on the script for the "Royale" follow-up, temporarily titled Bond 22.

Haggis will polish the Bond 22 screenplay by regular 007 writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day). His rewrite of Purvis and Wade's Casino Royale script helped to revitalize the aging franchise and hook a new generation of fans to score the franchise's biggest box office - $588 million worldwide.

A director for the 22nd installment, scheduled for a Nov. 7, 2008 release, has not yet been named. Haggis is currently in the editing room finishing up In the Valley of Elah.

The script won't be leaked... not for awhile.

Latinoreview said they would be reviewing the script.

Paul Haggis returning is a VERY good thing.
He is a great writer.

True! CR is my favorite Bondmovie ever, we can only hope that the next one will be as good, or even better...

Why is a Barbarella topic in the Bond 22 section?

I thank god for the fact that Paul Haggis is returning for 22 because a P & W only script absolutely fills me with fear.

I will never, ever forget that damn invisible car.

Agreed. I wish they would let some new writers do these movies already.

Let's not forget they were the ones behind the last 2 crappy Bond movies before Royale.

When will LatinoReview review it?

The coolest thing is now Paul haggis is rewriting the script, cool we will have something to his standard again.

you will not hear of this again until late in the year, Craig is also starting to train again.

Wait, so they got Haggis writing it again? Please tell me that's true.

Because if it is, thank God. But seriously. These films need newer blood writing them. People other than Purvis and Wade.

Purvis and Wade suck, they dont deserve the credit for CR. Imo credit goes to Fleming's novel and Haggis.

It's true my friend.

We can only hope it’ll be as good as Casino Royal.

shocked after CRs success the studio didn't werk it to get the entire crew back again.
