UPDATED 9/13/06: According to some wrestling websites, Batista will be playing a character from the Phantom Zone. Darn. We were hoping he'd play Lobo!

...Batista has been busy promoting the new home of WWE Smackdown, the CW. Here's what the big man had to say as he talked Superman, Lashley, and The King.



IGN Sports: Is it a sign of WWE's growing popularity that Smackdown is seen as a flagship show for the new network?



Batista: Absolutely, and I think we have been for a while on the network we were on. But in kicking off this new network, and taking the best of the best from both networks, UPN and WB, and throwing them together for CW, I think with Smackdown leading the way, it says tons because there are some good quality shows…one of them being Smallville, which I will be appearing on.



IGN Sports: Do you know what role you're going to play?



Batista: I don't know the details yet, but I'm really honored to be on the show. I'm a big superhero buff, so I'm really excited about that. It's also going to give me the chance to really branch out, reach out, and maybe reach some viewers that we don't already have. I'm hoping they'll want to check out Smackdown because of my appearance on that show.



IGN Sports: Don't you think the actor who plays Superman is going to be a little intimidated when you role in at twice the size?



Batista: Of course he's going to be intimidated. [laughs]

hell no, that's why wrestling sucks right now. There like lacking that one or two legitmate crossover superstar with core appeal like Rock or Austin. There still milking Hulk and Talker, Cena sucks in the ring and HHH fell off. Batitista is asswipe in the flesh

Batista's 6'6 and about 315 pounds so yeah, he's gonna dwarf him. Probably Doomsday or something. Just because he doesn't have near the charisma needed for Lobo and I always wanted Rob Zombie for Lobo anyway.

I'd say Mongul but...yeah, early. Doomsday really makes the most sense if not some kyrptonite-steroid pumping Freak of the Week.

And wrestling was awesome till they lost WWF, WCW, and ECW. TNA seems to be the only decent one out there these days.

Super Ludacris' blind hate for my boy aside, I hope Dave does a good job as whoever he plays. i say FOTW, as I can't see him as Lobo or DD. his acting is hardly atrocious, but he's no Rock or Austin.
