Batman: Arkham Knight

Wait, there's no boss fights in this game exact the Riddler? For real?

That's...strange. Well, I mean, the Arkham games never had very good boss fights outside a few exceptions to begin with, though.

I'd trade some of these tank battles for boss fights against the villains.

Such a wasted opportunity for an air battle with Man-Bat.

I'm still royally disappointed that...

Deathstroke is a freaking tank boss battle, and from what I hear, there are alot of those in the game. Pretty disappointed in Rocksteady with that. He deserves much better than that.

In Arkham Knight's defense, I mean guys like Harley, Penguin, Two-Face, Pyg, & Blackfire aren't really boss battle material.

I already suggested that with the Two-Face side quest, he should have had his gang stealing 2 banks at one time in each mission. Fits Dent's personality but still these guys aren't combat experts.

But Deathstroke & Arkham Knight should have been better bosses. Firefly and Man-Bat were ok IMO.

Any character can be boss battle material with the right imagination and design. But boss battles are a lost art, so I don't expect much from them nowadays anyway.

I'm beginning to think that they just threw him in after they heard that he was gonna be in Origins. They almost literally didn't have to do anything extra outside of recording dialog.

This is why I have crossed working in the video game industry (excluding indie) off my list a long time ago. When WB opened a studio here few years ago, I was really ecstatic. Two things I love in one place: DC and video games. But no, hearing this kind of stuff, whether it's the publisher or the developer's fault, on the internet and/or from friends who interned/worked at EA and Ubi just riles me especially since I'm keen on the quality of my work (software engineer); if a product we make is crappy, my peers and I will obviously take full responsibility or at least part of it.
Once again, no defense or excuse for any of this.

FYI:

Warner Bros. Interactive just confirmed that WB Games Montreal developed the Batgirl DLC.

Wonder why Rocksteady ain't doing it...

Is it strange that I actually enjoyed Joker a lot more in Knight when he was dead than in Asylum and City when he was alive?

He just seems far more menacing in Knight than he ever was in Asylum and City. Hamill absolutely nailed it in Knight.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I do. the writing is far better in knight than it was in asylum and city, so it's not surprising.

I also enjoyed him a lot more in Knight as well. In fact, Joker may be my favorite thing in Knight. People have fussed about Joker being overused, but I think the Titan/Joker/Batman arc that began in Asylum and continued in City and concluded in Knight was aces.

Argh, I'm so confused! I see so many people say the story and characterization of AK is the worst of the series, but at the same time I see so many people call it the best or second best story and a huge improvement over AC, with the best Joker and Scarecrow yet.

What's the consensus? Should I be excited or lower my expectations?

This gives me hope for another Batman game from them. I really hope they take the mantle from Rocksteady.

Here's the point.

Scarecrow and Joker's characterization in this game are the best.

How you feel about the story depends on how you feel about who the Arkham Knight is and if you are a strong fan of this character.

Gameplay wise, I'd say it's the best off the series mostly due to open world Gotham with the Batmobile.

Not as much side missions as City but some real good ones.

Dual play is ****ing awesome.

Not that many challenge maps.

Story is no doubt a more emotional one from Rocksteady and really explores Batman's mind.

The only character I was upset over was Poison Ivy.

These are pretty much my thoughts as well. The gameplay is definitely the most fun out of all the games in the series. This game does the most to make you feel like The Batman.

[BLACKOUT]I really liked Pyg.[/BLACKOUT] Never heard of this character before.

While I was very pleased with her

Oh it was wonderful story. I just got really upset [BLACKOUT]over her death[/BLACKOUT]. The fact that the story was good enough to elicit that response from me is a good thing.

Hey the DLC is done by WB Montreal, maybe it will have good writing? :)
