Batman: Arkham Knight

Allies are a big part of Batman...just as much as the Batmobile or the Batcave.

Speaking of the Batcave, man it was disappointing not having it in here. For something that's supposed to be the best Batman experience, it left out a lot of key elements and shoved in a lot of un-Batman ones.

Yeah. I loved the Batcave in AO though. I always have a good wander around in it every time I play that game.

I think the Batcave would have been a nice addition to this, even if it just served as a hub to display and change costumes and Batmobiles.

I still love this game but I'm really unimpressed with these AR challenge maps. Very disappointing they've restricted the use of Robin and Catwoman, especially considering their roles in Arkham City.

Yepp..AK had the perfect opportunity to make the definitive, fully-decked out virtual batcave and they didn't even try.

I remember being so happy when AA came out because the game was made by people who clearly got Batman. I remember watching all the developer videos about the predator stuff or how they took from many different artists for Batman's design etc etc and feeling like Batman was in great hands. That feeling is gone after AK...

AK is still a great video game, but it's just not the "Batman" game we all wanted.

Honestly AK barely felt like a Batman game at all. Between the tank battles, the militia, the entirety of Founder's Island and the sidelining of most of the allies and rogues gallery, it really fails to feel like one. Everything after Ace Chemicals just feels empty.

Compare City, which even as disastrous as the story was absolutely felt like a Batman game, and had fantastic villain interplay. I love the mooks in that game. Origins feels the most like Batman out of any of them, because it actually utilised so many elements of the Batman mythos.

For those that have the PC version, the first big patch is online.

Good news - testing for the interim patch has been completed and it is now available for those who already have Batman: Arkham Knight for PC. As a reminder, below are some of the major fixes and improvements that will be addressed with this patch:

Reduced frame rate hitches
Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
More Comprehensive In-Game Settings
Fixed low resolution texture bugs
Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

In addition to the above, we’re continuing to work on the following for future updates:
Adding support for SLI and Crossfire
Adding support for the latest DLC & Season Pass content
Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode
Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some NVIDIA GPUs during extended game play
Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs

As always, we will monitor for any additional issues that come up and will provide further optimizations and bug fixes along the way.

We would like to thank everyone for their patience and invaluable feedback. We’ll provide ongoing updates here as they are made available. In the meantime, please enjoy the game with the latest patch.

Speak for yourselves, AK was absolutely the batman game I've always wanted.

AK is my favorite Batman game yet. With City as a close second.

AA is still my favorite with AK being 2nd.

Knight is my favourite and Origins and City are tied.

I 'm hoping that after the Crimefighter # DLC phase, we get proper challenge maps - ie. all characters on all maps, and with their full complement of gadgets.

At this point, I don't think we're getting challenge maps. It seems like the AR challenge maps are the successors to the challenge maps.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any of that yet. You'd think they would've spaced them out throughout the six months.

Yeah, and we're already have way through this DLC. It sounds like pretty big DLC too, so it's odd that they'd be releasing it all around the same time.

This thread is a whine-fest. AK was the best of the series for me, easily. I think you forget the faults of the other two games.

No, we just see greater faults with AK. If you don't like the complaints then put us on ignore, or just don't post here instead of belittling the thread as a "whine-fest".

There's something about that idea though that doesn't quite sit right with me. Mainly because of the missing gadgets, and AK having only one playable character for all maps. That plainly shows a step backward for the series. One theory I have is, the nature of the AR challenges (Dual Play in both combat and predator) made it difficult to incorporate all gadgets while still maintaining game balance, and having all characters (Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, and, reaching here, Red Hood, Harley Quinn and Batgirl) in their slightly watered down state would have been a waste. So, to have their cake and eat it too WBI/RS 'created new challenge packs' in the form of the current AR challenge packs and sold them as DLC; then, later down the line, knowing how much fans will be clamouring for the old style of challenge maps, WBI/RS will sell these too, with all 7 characters being fully playable across all new maps.

Truthfully, I'm glad they didn't include the challenge maps and let you play as everyone. The predator maps were fine, since you had different objectives with everyone's playstyle/attributes being a bit different. However, going through each combat map 3-4 times with each character to get the achievements got really old, especially since combat is essentially the same, just with non-Batman characters you lost great moves like "disarm and destroy". I was really satisfied with Arkham Knight, going through the New Game + playthrough and it's great, especially now that I know hoe to control the Batmobile better. I really find the Batmobile to be like mastering combat in Asylum, I didn't like the combat in Asylum because I never understood how to do it well, but once I did it greatly enhanced the game.

I think most of us here are Batman fans first and video game fans second. So while AK may be the most polished in terms of gameplay and graphics, a lot of us feel let down as Batman fans.

Origins was pretty much brushed aside by the larger gaming community, yet it's beloved on these boards. Primarily because it nailed the "Batman" stuff.

All things said and done, I have to give the "favorite" title to AC. It was just so satisfying and perfect to me. Maybe I'm being a little forgiving of its faults, but I think it's the one most dear to me from the series.

Nailed it.

Guys, question about combat.
What is the difference between these two special moves with Batman? Holding L2 + square and holding L2 + x

Both seem to be explosives but I am not sure why I should use one or the other in certain situations.

I could be wrong but I think the L2+X is when you do a flip and place explosive gel on the ground? Then the other is throwing a mini explosive gel at an enemy to disorient them. I could be backwards with my guess or also wrong ha, but I think that's what you're talking about.

Here and other select gamer forums from gamer news sites like EPN.TV's and Game informers as we saw too. They have people from the fan base that defend Origins there on their own sites as well and this is be side's the host's and reporter/editors from them too.

Other wise well said

those calling Arkham Knight a letdown, i'm gonna have to agree with you. with Asylum, City, & Origins i could not stop playing the game and finished the story in less than a week.

i've had Knight since the release date and am only about 75% done with the game. don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game. however, too much reliance on the Batmobile, the repetitive tank battles, and just knowing who the Arkham Knight is kinda killed it for me

i still play it every now & then and do plan on finally completing the game this weekend, but it just didn't have the pull that the previous 3 games had

Exactly.

It's also rather funny how WBM gets so much flak for Origins, but they managed to do villains like Bane and Deathstroke justice compared to how Rocksteady handled them. Slade's appearance in Knight was just insulting.
