Batman: Arkham Knight

Hopefully it is the rumored Arkham game. If that turns out to be fake, then someone sure has a lot of time on their hands to actually go out of their way to make up so much detailed information about a game that doesn't exist.

I wonder if it's too soon for the second season of Telltale Batman. It wrapped like three months ago. Feels like a little too soon to get the second season jumpstarted.

No idea how many games Telltale can manage, either. I'm sure they've grown, but they're in the middle of TWD and Guardians of the Galaxy is coming up.

I recently finished this game and enjoyed it for the most part. It was nice to see the Bat family play bigger roles but I wish that they'd had played even bigger roles with being able to constantly switch between them to get certain things done.

PC release on two VR headsets and a release date.

The PlayStation VR exclusive Batman: Arkham VR was a visual example of what VR can be, even though it was short. Reviews all over call it a demo worth its $20 price tag. If console gamers approve of what is essentially just a taste of what VR can do, then the announcement for PC release should bode well, with PC gamers more accustomed to experimental games.
Batman: Arkham VR has been announced for PC on the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift beginning April 25.
From the game's official website:
"PC players now have the opportunity to experience Gotham City through the eyes of the World’s Greatest Detective, and delve deep into a tense Batman: Arkham mystery. Enter a virtual reality world where you must think like Batman and utilize his legendary gadgets, unraveling a plot that threatens the lives of his closest allies."
Batman: Arkham VR was one of the main sellers for PlayStation VR, so this move's effect on the opinion of the PlayStation VR, the low-end/low-cost VR experience, has yet to be seen. Hopefully, it helps the VR experience overall.

Rocksteady's attention to detail is the best around.

The level of detail and love to those easter eggs they have put in, is incredible.

I never knew the one with Manbat or visited the lab later in the game.
All those little details, the references and all...you dont find many developers who do such things.

Apparently the upcoming game originally had Damian Wayne as the main character

https://segmentnext.com/2017/05/02/...e-apparently-previously-starred-damian-wayne/

The new Batman game that Warner Bros. has been working on apparently once had Damian Wayne as a protagonist, only for it to be rebooted in favor of returning to Bruce Wayne. The information came from Jason Schreier, who couldn’t give any real remarks about whether Damian was still in the game.
Damian Wayne, in the official DC canon, is the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al’Ghul, who is the daughter of Batman’s arch-enemy Ra’s Al Ghul. He is the fifth Robin and is a more brutal Robin, due to being trained partially by the League of Assassins, and is even willing to kill (though he stops after he becomes Robin).
Damian Wayne is something of a controversial figure among much of the DC fanbase, due to him being Batman’s son, being entitled and bratty, and a number of other reasons. However, he’s popular enough that he’s going to be in Injustice 2 and, apparently, was going to get his own game. Not now, however.
Apparently, the new Batman game will be an open-world game called Arkham: Insurgency, and will star both Batman and Dick Grayson, two years into the period where Grayson has been Robin. The game is also in the same engine as Arkham Knight, and has been in development for around three years.
However, the plot seems to be a mixture of Arkham Knight and Arkham Asylum: A massive breakout has happened, leaving the Gotham City Police Department to block off a large portion of Gotham City and sending in Batman to clean things up. However, Batman’s Rogues Gallery isn’t going to be the main threat.
Instead, the game’s main threat comes from the Court of Owls, a secret society of Gotham’s rich families that aim to control the city behind the scenes.
We may see some additional information about this new Batman game at this coming E3, but for now, you can follow this link to see what we apparently (it’s from an insider so it might be wrong) know so far.

So, no Damian and it's set earlier in Batman's career ( Dick's been Robin for 2 years )?

The games are different but playing in the open world of the Witcher 3 and how full and vibrant it was with just random NPC citizens made me realize what a lost opportunity it was that Gotham was totally devoid of citizens in Knight.

It's not Gotham if there are more tank drone abound than people.

The next game has a huge opportunity to correct that.

Yeah I understand Aslyum and City and even Origins for having an empty Gotham. Thought maybe they'd change that with Knight because it being on next gen platforms, that they could do more. Would be nice if we could get a full populated city plus having the game take place over time instead of one night. In past games I understand the reasoning and limitations. But this is next gen, let's switch it up.

After 3 games, the deserted Gotham thing has become a bore. How hard would it be to have a few dozen Gotham citizens in it.

They could have a game where you start as a relatively inexperienced Batman and process through his career over months or years (in game-time).

You could get XP for actually rescuing citizens here and there instead of just beating up random thugs hanging around.

Like in Batman year one you start with somewhat grounded criminals then move on to the super-villains as your career progresses.

NPC's mean more time and effort being put into it, that's basically all it is.

I think it was just Rocksteady wanting to be different and obsessed with the Batmobile that they focused so much on implementing tank combat with drones vs NPC's.

I guess I'll be the odd one out, but I'm disappointed. The Damian Wayne sounded like an interesting twist to the franchise (including a populated city!) and nothing I hear about Insurgence is exciting me in the slightest.

The narrative doesn't sound exciting at all.

Massive breakout. Gotham deserted. Fight the rogues gallery. Mysterious threat looming in the background. :o

I guess we'll see if E3 brings anything. I'd much rather have that Beyond game with a fully populated Neo-Gotham.

I am really getting annoyed with the Arkham formula. They really need to come up with something else. Might have to give that Telltale game a try.

Or at least work on a different superhero. I think they could really do something with Green Lantern if they put in the same amount of variety in offensive and defensive options they did with Arkham.

Isn't this an old rumor? I recall reading about this "Arkham Insurgency" thing several weeks back.

As for the whole deserted Gotham thing, they need to stop. Give us a smaller storyline and civilians please.

I for one am relieved that Damian isn't the main or a protagonist after all but am very disapointed about the rest because I wanted a new batman game not set in the Arkham universe with the same basic formula. Now it's just another Arkham prequel/sequel.

A damn shame but maybe some more official info and trailers will cheer me up. Batmobile better not be a massive focus again damn it!

I am happy that Grayson is a 2nd protagonist though and that it likely means we can finally free roam with him.
