Batman: Battle for the cowl

At the NYCC Battle for the Cowl panel, yesterday, DC announced eight titles (some old, some new) that will be shipping in February:

- Batman & Robin
- Batman
- Detective Comics
- Red Robin
- Outsiders
- Batgirl
- Gotham City Sirens (Catwoman might be part of the book)
- Batman: Streets of Gotham

Not in February. Comic book series beginning in June are:

- Batman and Robin
- Red Robin
- Outsiders
- Batgirl
- Batman: The Streets of Gotham
- Gotham City Sirens

lol I meant June. I was having a convo with someone while I was typing and sort of fused it with my post. Not the first time I've done that, and certainly not the strangest.. :oldrazz:

I'm confused, is Oustiders restarting into Batman and the Outsiders...again?

Outsiders is coming back without Batman it seems

Hm, that's awful... what about Detective Comics? Will DC Comics publish them or not? I'm a little bit confused by info's in last 2-3 posts.

i guess Detective Comics will feature Batwoman and itll be written by Rucka....thats what i got out of it, im not sure about the other stuff

Detective and Batman have their "final" issues coming up (Caped Crusader) and then a three month break while Battle of the Cowl takes over the scene for three months. When they return in June it's Rucka doing Batwoman in Tec and Dini moved onto something else. The rest of the new books are also starting in June.

Rumor is Morrison will move onto the new "Batman & Robin" title, but it would also be logical for him to continue Bruce Waynes story (on a prehistoric earth maybe?) because he's the one that started all that. Dini will be moved to....who knows...Streets of Gotham, Sirens? there's a few options left and the panel hinted he may even be "in more than place".

For anyone who missed it, I encourage you to compare the fourth page of the final issue of Nightwing (out today) with the first page of Batman: Year One, and see what you notice.

I'd love to see scans of this. Anyone? Thanks!

You see Dick Grayson enter Gotham thru the train and you see him walk the trainstation. Batman: Year One starts with Jim Gordon coming to Gotham from the very same trainstation.

What's this message Bruce has left for the three Robins? May not be a literal one - just something I read in a newsarama review

First issue PREVIEW

This is gonna be so cheesy and blockbuster, I cant wait

Jason Todd for Batman! :word:

What's more, Dick makes a point of taking the train to be closer to the city, as Bruce contemplated after making a mistake taking a plane.

What an outrageous preview! I really like Jason Todd's gun blazing bat-costume. And the story seems to be written quite nicely aswell. Really looking forward to this fight, it seems each isuse is from a different focus on pov. #1 being Nightwing, 2nd Robin and the last Jason Todd.

Preview looks great. I can't wait to read more Jason Todd. He's an uber badass.

I would love to see Dick Grayson become the "next" Batman. It's only appropriate. Any of the three major Robins could be Batman, but Grayson is the only one that is ready. As Saint alluded to, he is a learned version of Bruce.

Richard Grayson For Batman !
I think he's the most similar person to Bruce.

Cassandra cain all the way! of course this wont happen...but i can dream.

For anyone that's not seen the new coloured it's over at IGN.

Gotta say, I'm not loving this so far. On first look it seems great (apart from that pathetic stripper Huntress costume they keep bringing back, just let it die DC!) but on looking again all it seems to be doing so far is a disservice to anyone that isn't Batman, just as I feared. Sure they setup a network of some really great heroes, but no! That isn't enough, there NEEDS to be a "Batman"!

Sorry, but I was hoping that other crimefighters would actually be capable, instead of failing simply because no one wears a Batcostume, because that is pretty sad to me.

The artwork looks lovely though.

Is it wrong for me to only like Tony Daniel's pencil work? The colorist is terrible. I wish Daniel would work with Alex Sinclair.

Gotham Gazette was tedious and I felt a waste of my money it was only good for seeing a handful of characters we haven't seen in a long while from page one & on back in comics again. The only real interesting thing to me was that it left me thinking if Hush was the one who left Vicki Vale the invitation. It's so obvious the guy beheading criminals in Bullock's chapter is gonna end up being Azrael/Lane or whoever the new Azrael really is.
